This seems like my kind of thread.......

I got no time for the Vancouver club scene. Then again, I don't drink.

rough couple days in Vancouver for the Bruins.

Lucic playing street fighter, Marchand embarrassing himself and Iggy hurts his hand in a fight. Oh yeah, and a crushing loss as well.

I blame the fact that there's now an MMA gym on every other street corner for the huge rise in general d-baggery in clubs in general. Granted most of these guys will get tuned up pretty bad by a professional fighter, but amateur boxing history aside I don't think that Lucic fits into that category. He might spend a few hours a week in a boxing gym during the off-season, but I doubt he finds the time during the regular season. There's more than a few guys out there that have enough training to land a lucky punch and take a guy like Lucic down, and for the vast majority of them the infamy being the guy to do it would gain them is more than worth the risk of getting dropped.
again, a fundamental ignorance of martial arts and fighting. The fact that Lucic fights regularly is such a huge factor that no one is landing that lucky punch because even if you do hit him he has the muscle memory to know what to do. Case in point; the fact that he said the guy hit him a bunch of times and he had not a scratch on his face. The ability to know how to react when getting attacked based on experience makes him physiologically nearly unbeatable without a weapon, denying as much shows unfamiliarity with the subject at hand. Lucic has been in over 50 fights on the ice and that alone is nearly enough to make it almost impossible to hurt him. You'd have to hit him with a sucker punch when he's not looking or use a weapon.

For instance;imagine you're 6'5, 260 and you hit him as hard as you can with a hook. If he sees it coming his ingrained neural pathways will react in a way that creates defense before you hit(chin tuck, roll with the punch, move in the right direction, hands up etc.). Then you add on to the fact that the odds of getting the range perfect to land a %100 power shot is so small that it's nearly impossible, you couldn't do it unless you sneak up and he doesn't have time to react. There aren't many people that get to that stage, the large majority of people that learn mma or boxing(>90%) do not spar hard enough to have the same ability and react differently to getting hit (analogously Brock Lesnar vs. Mauricio Rua) if you'd like to talk about mma.

All I know is, when Mitch Nybo was doing that segment with Prusty, and Prusty was showing him how to hockey fight, it honestly looked like Prust would take out Nybo with one hand behind his back and his eyes closed. Granted, Nybo's a small dude compared to Prust, but the fact he looked like a little kid fighting an adult on the ice really makes me think a guy who's used to fighting on the ice would do pretty well in a normal fight.

Yes, really.

Adrian Laroze Briskey is charged with killing Michelle Shepherd. Per the Associated Press, Shepard's sister, Nekesa, says that Briskey became enraged when Shepherd, her sister and others joking that it wasn't as bad as a Miami Heat loss.

I think you do have somewhat of a point, that Lucic knowing how to react in a fight inherently gives him an advantage.

But I also think you might be crackers. I can't decide.

I understand what acgold is saying, but it's completely the wrong attitude to have. Read what stats87 posted earlier - you can't and shouldn't estimate what people are capable of. It's not a ring or a rink where certain codes are followed, it's the street.

Well most notably in the video, which I seemed to notice was the old Reese Witherspoon line when she was arrested for DUI. I was surprised that Lucic was yelling it.

"Do you KNOOOWWW who IIIIII am?"

He obviously didn't have his senses about him to be say such a girly line as a threat. Just a little too much self entitlement.

I didn't take it that way at all. What he was trying to get across was more along the lines of . . . "You know that I beat up large, fit professional athletes, right? Do you really want me to do this to you?" Of course, the inebriation didn't help. It rarely does.

Given the situation, I thought Milan was admirably restrained.

Nevertheless, people who fight at clubs and bars take life waaaay too seriously anyways. It isn't worth it, and never will be. More smiles! Less fists.
i agree, none of the company i was with in calgary was abbrasive/aggressive. However, being a person of ethnic background, there was always some idiot of the same ethnic background wanting to start something. hopefully it's different now, but 10 years ago, it was quite a rampant problem.

Then again, i never had any issues when going to a club that was predominantly 'white' (ie. outlaws).
