Interesting to see some of the speculation coming out, even against what Burke just said. Is there anyway that someone can sticky the quotes from Burke on the Fan after the presser, because it might quiet some of the weird speculation.
That being said, I don't a 100% believe what Burke says is what he's going to do, but from what he said I don't think there's reason to worry about Sven or Gadureau being traded anytime soon. I think Backlund may be heading out, but at the same time after a rough start Backlund seems to be turning it around into the mold that Burke is looking for.
I think you can all but guarantee that Stajan, Cammalerri, Butler, Bouma and one of Ramo/Berra is gone by the end of the season. I can see Knight and Ferland up with the big club much sooner.

Yeah but but NHL 14 . . .

Why are people making a big deal over the holiday freeze thing. Players are different than a GM/coach. The Players have to go to another city, find housing, make the decision to move the family now or later or never or whatever. Tough thing to do at holiday time.
GMs/coaches get to go home, kick their feet up, crack open a cold beer and collect their pay cheques while they contemplate what went wrong and what the next steps are for them. It is a completely different situation.

They just said after the 2012 draft he was given less influence on the 2013 draft.
I said earlier that I thought he was a smoke and mirrors guy that talked big but didn't follow through with his words.

Yes. Right now, at this moment, is the exact moment we will know Jankowski's true potential.

Dean Molberg @fan960boomer 21s
As for John Weisbrod: mysterious. Hardly saw him, rarely spoke to him. Hard to evaluate his work given we never knew for certain what he did

Molberg isn't on, that was Leslie.
edit: oh weird, Leslie said it on the radio as Molberg was tweeting it.

Pretty much sums up my thoughts.
When ever you bring in someone from outside the organization to "oversee" an existing person in your organization, it can't go well.
I am pretty sure Burke will bring in his guy. Probably someone like Nonis who has the same philosophical views as Burke.
He turned Vancouver around, he turned Anaheim into champions (yes, Murray had a big hand too..), and he turned the Maple Leafs around.
He will do the same here in Calgary.
This team will get bigger, stronger, and harder to play against.
Oh, and Jonas Hill will be a Flame on July 1st.

What I am saying is that tactically, many teams alluded to the fact he was projected to go late in the 2nd round or even 3rd round.
The chances of him being around for the Flames 2nd pick were probable.

In fairness, it's really hard for anyone to like that pick at this point.

Sure Jankowski maybe have been the reach but 2012 has netted us Gilles who could arguably be a franchise goalie with a 3rd round pick.
