2015/16

The Flames will acquire Jarome Iginla at the trade deadline, go on a run defeating Anaheim, San Jose, Minnesota, and Montreal.

Captain Sean Monahan will then hand the cup over to Iginla as he skates around the Saddledome ice.

James Reimer (who will be a Flame by then) will be names playoff MVP, and the winning goal will be scored by Jake Gardiner (also a Flame) assisted by Lee Stempniak and Emile Porier.

Iginla announces his retirement, and is given a a job as an assistant coach to head coach Marc Crawford.

04 repeat, with one important difference I'm hoping.

If we can just get Iggy back after he wins a cup in Boston this year, next year Iggy will lead us to the finals (spoken with an Iggy Fan-Boy Lisp)

2019, if history repeats itself. 2022 based on where the team is in the contender cycle.

Next year, the Flames surprise everyone and finish in the final playoff spot. Lead by a kid second line of Poirier, Monahan and Johnny Hockey knock off the Anaheim Mighty Ducks in the first round in 7 hard fought games.

Gio scores the winning goal in an exhausting 7 period game.

2016 at the earliest but knowing this franchise it probably won't be until 2019 when the Flames go on a miraculous run to the Cup finals.

I think they win the Cup exactly one year after they make the playoffs again. IMO they will end up being a Chicago like team. No McDavid, but Kane/Toews/Keith type guys.

And everyone will hate Flames fans for 10 years as our favourite team dominates.

I was looking back at last season's stats and noticed that it was the 96th NHL season.

Assuming this rebuild doesn't go full-Oiler and crash & burn, the 100th NHL centennial season of play (2017-2018) would be a heck of a time to finally enter the playoffs and make a run assuming we draft and develop on schedule.

2063-2064

50 years after the '04 playoff run.

Seriously, I'll say 2015-2016. The way the rebuild is going, we'll make the playoffs that year, and make it to the conference finals.

15/16 = 1st playoff appearance
16/17 = conference finals
2017~ officially "contenders"

Lineup:

Gaudreau - McDavid - Poirier
Klimchuk - Monahan - Dal Colle

Myers - Brodie
Giordano - Fleury

Gillies

Dal Colle drafted 6th overall, 2014
Fleury drafted 18th overall, 2014 (in exchange for Mike Cammaller)
McDavid drafted 1st overall, 2015 via lottery
Burke trades Baertschi + in 2014 off season for Myers from Buffalo

Gaudreau hit his ceiling and rises to stardom.

If you asked this question in late 1989, and someone said it would take 15 years, you would've been laughed out of town.

If you asked this question in late 2004, and someone said we still wouldn't have a series win a decade later (and were nowhere close), chances are you'd be mocked as well.

When it comes to the playoffs and the Flames, it's best not to make predictions....you just don't really know how bad the streak can get, and you really don't want to dwell on it either. When you've been past the 1st round once in almost a quarter of a century, it's kind of hilariously tragic to be a Flames fan.

Brodie? Ramo/Berra? Baertschi? Colborne? Bouma? Gio? Russell? Smid? I bet there will be more than you think.

They went 7 against the Sharks in 2007-2008. Isn't that close?
