Well, it wasn't as bad as her first song, but then again how could anything have been worse than the first one? Still horrible.

In entertainment, there is no difference.

It reached 19th on iTunes in sales. Peaked at number 58 on the Billboard top 100. Peaked at number 38 on the US hot digital songs charts. And it charted top 40 on numerous european charts... the single sold over 441,000 copies.

Friday might not be a "hit" with some... but the entertainment industry would classify that as a hit.

I mean, I don't like pop music, but I don't see how this song is any worse than anything else we hear on top 40 stations.

I disagree, the first one was terrible in a train wreck way but the chorus was catchy and got stuck in your head. It was parodied and became part of pop culture for a period of time. It might have been bad but it was fun to hate and relavent.

Saturday is just bland and generic, neither good or bad just mediorce pop music that gets cranked out constantly.

This, exactly this. This thing sounds EXACTLY like every single other record-industry written, created, and produced 'song' out there right now. How do people know which ones they are supposed to think are great and which ones they are supposed to mock?

A couple of these top 40 regulars have real talent, but they cater to what will sell millions of records... understandable. Lady Gaga and a piano is actually pretty cool.

The difference is that Rebecca Black could not do this. Or Katy Perry. Or the majority of them.

I heard she made $1-1.5 million from Friday. So once she came to terms with being the laughing stock of the planet, I'm sure all was well.

Yes, I suppose Lady Gaga can play the piano. And yes, I am aware that I am supposed to believe that the music-industry creation that is Lady Gaga is a brilliant genius who is in some way different from all the other music-industry creations.

I am aware that Lady Gaga is the answer that is always given when someone says that modern pop-stars are really not all that talented. I am aware of all these things that I am supposed to think and believe and tell to others.

But her 'music' is still dreadful. And she is still a music-industry creation.

25 million albums later... I'd imagine she welcomes any and all criticism.

I agree with everything you just said. She is in no way a musical genius nor has anyone with half a brain claimed her to be, but she can sing, so for me, the fact that she has sold 25 million albums is less irritating than it would be otherwise. Pop is most certainly not my favourite genre either.

Actually she really didn't make anything. The company that wrote and produced the song gets most of the money. Still with the 100+ million youtube veiws only brought in around $20,000 in shared revenue. Another maybe $40,000+ in royalties. And around $400,000 in sales of the single... Which is pretty good for a 3 minute song, and maybe a day of work.

I think it's Ark entertainment or something like that did the song. She paid an upfront fee for them to write and produce a track for her, and make a video. Depending on how they broke down the points I'm sure they took most if not all of the 100 points allocated on the song... So, they got most if not all of that revenue.

Any singer, if they don't write the songs, they aren't getting most, if any of the sales of the recorded material... they do however get all the revenue from the touring, while the writers and composers are only paid a mechanical royalty allowing them to perform the material.

It's a big reason why a lot of artists like Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Justin Beiber, Justin Timberlake, etc write their own songs, or if they aren't good they bring in co wirters or ghost writers.... they want to have a part of the publishing.

That figure I saw was her net worth, not earnings. Might have been referring to something else.

Friday was a better song, imo. It was one of those catchy, guilty pleasure songs that you liked because it was awful, whereas this is just trying too hard to be serious.

Also, Ms. Black looks damn old for a 16 year old. She looked a little older than 13/14 in Friday, but at this rate she might look 50 by the time she's 20
