Red Mile, don't apologize for having a great time. That's me at pretty much every show I go to. I don't get the people who sit there like corpses. If I dig the music, I'm getting into it. Pearl Jam never disappoints.

I've seen PJ 4 times live now, and every time was fantastic. I'm chocked that I missed this one. To add to Red Mile's post I remember the first time I saw them live I was similarly moved.

I still have to laugh at the occasional person I find that says "Pearl Jam didn't do anything good after Ten". An almost 3 hour set filled with songs from a catalogue that spans over 20 years, and still beloved by their rabid fan base. They are truly one of the great bands of their era.

This was my first time seeing them live, I dont go to alot of concerts so here was my take.

The general setlist - I probably enjoyed about 60% of it. I am not a huge fan when the "noise" overtakes the lyrics. Maybe its just me but I had a hard hearing the lyrics. Also I was a bit annoyed at the lighting how it made it very difficult to see them (say compared to the Eagles concert in September at the Dome). I was probably standing for about 40%

Was it creepy to anyone else that the lead guitarist looked a bit like a zombie when they were doing the closeup of him durring one of the songs, he was playing with his eyes closed leaning back and swaying - great but weird.

Encores made the show for me.

First encrore was fantastic - standing up for about 80%
Second encore was equally great - didnt sit at all (mostly cause of music but some because of people in front were standing), Fn up was fantastic. I am thankfull to see that I didnt leave to early (only missed 1 song, the wife was feeling very sick from the weed and nicotine smell in section 222) she left the seats about 10 minutes earlier than I did and I decided that after Fn up I would join her else my 3 month marriage might end quicker than anticipated. The good thing is it allowed us to get home earlier so I got 5.5 hours of sleep for work today

I can live with the weed smell but when someone starts lighting up cigarettes mid way through the first set and doesnt stop then it starts to get annoying quick. And the Dome "security guards" wont do much. I dont care if you want to smoke weed, its a rock concert I get it, but take that filthy nicotine smell home.

Also a note to parents, dont bring your poser teen daughter and her friend to the concert if all they are going to do is blab to each other durring the songs. Ive restrained myself previously but last night I just couldnt take it anymore - Dome security talked to them and it shut them up for about 5 minutes then it started again so I had to tell them to shut the fk up.

I do hope they are back in the summer, my 2 cousins tried to make it down from Edmonton at noon and turned around at Leduc. Tried Red Arrow but they cancelled all their bus service - even checked with Air Canada but 800 round trip per person seemed a bit steep - I dont blame them. Normally we dont do Christmas gifts but I bought each of them a Tshirt since they wernt able to come.

I can't see the video you posted, so it may just be what I'm about to mention...in any case, at the Missoula show on Sept 30, 2012 Arm and Steve Turner joined Pearl Jam for a great cover of "Kick Out the Jams".

Couldn't make the show, so I didn't hear the comment from Vedder, but any chance he was just making a joke about the weather when he said "how about this summer?"?

Every band says "Let's do this again real soon", but maybe he was just adding his own twist implying "How about when there's not a blizzard outside, like summer".

However, if I was to make a guess as to a reason why he actually would make a comment like that, I'd guess Xfest. Those guys like to get on that festival early, and Pearl Jam would be right up their alley. Wouldn't be surprised if they had approached Pearl Jam early about headlining it next summer. Cause I couldn't see any reason why Pearl Jam would come back here in a matter of months on the same tour under their power.

They'll do more legs to this tour I'd imagine. I'd also think Edmonton is more likely to get a show before another for Calgary, but make that summer too so the drive up there is a breeze and I can play some golf along the way.

Oh if they plan on playing Edmonton then that makes sense, they probably would play here again.

In the meantime, it's pretty awesome how much more Pearl Jam Calgary has received than Edmonton. Especially since so many major acts skip Calgary for Edmonton.

Unless I'm missing a date, PJ played Calgary 09,11 and 13 in the last four years, and have only played Edmonton in 2011 in that time.

In fact just throwing out ideas here, but Sonic Boom in Edmonton and Xfest in Calgary are always the same line-up. So I wouldn't be surprised if Pearl Jam headlining these two festivals is in the works.

Would make sense with what Eddie said and getting Edmonton a show on their summer leg. Plus, these festivals need about 12k to make money I believe, and even with the show yesterday they'd still likely easily sell more than 12k tickets with PJ as a headliner, plus other bands. Plus, when you look at the playlists for these two stations PJ is one of the heaviest played bands on both.

And if this turns out to be true, CP has to take credit for putting all the clues together in this thread and uncovering the plan months before the announcement.

Mark sang" Search And Destroy" with them the last time they were here. It was a highlight of the show for me.

If he is drinking that much "four or five nights a week", that can't be good for his health. Such is the life of a rock star.

Attended the show a couple weeks ago at Jobing.com. Eddie easily put back 3 bottles during the 3.5 hour set. Considering that these guys hung out with Andy Wood and Layne Staley… are a few bottles really that bad?

So the setlist last night for Seattle was pretty great, certainly better than Calgary's. In My Tree, Breath, the covers, and McCready's playing was simply phenomenal, he played some behind his back, ran some laps during Spin the Black Circle, and went backstage and came back in through the crowd. They played great and Eddie was even drunker than here.

01. Pendulum
02. Nothingman
03. Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town
04. Interstellar Overdrive-(Pink Floyd)
05. Corduroy
06. Lightning Bolt
07. Mind Your Manners-(dedicated to Raul Ibanez)
08. Given To Fly
09. Pilate
10. Garden
11. Getaway
12. Even Flow
13. Sirens
14. In My Tree
15. Do The Evolution
16. Unthought Known
17. Black
18. Let The Records Play
19. Spin The Black Circle
20. Lukin-(dedicated to Matt Lukin)
21. Better Man/Save It For Later
Encore Break 1
22. After Hours-(Reed)
23. Let Me Sleep
24. Future Days-(dedicated to girl who rescued him after his boat canoe capsized near Hawaii. She was there, got a loud ovation)
25. Daughter
26. Chloe Dancer/Crown Of Thorns
27. Breath
28. State Of Love And Trust
29. Porch
Encore Break 2
30. Supersonic
31. Got Some
32. Rearviewmirror
33. Alive
34. Kick Out The Jams w/ Mark Arm, Steve Turner, Kim Thayil
35. Eruption-(Van Halen)
36. Yellow Ledbetter/Little Wing-(Jimi Hendrix)

Of the Earth and All Along the Watchtower were scratched off the list...####...

But overall Calgary's crowd was better. As I was reading some board in advance of the show, I noticed Seattle tended to be viewed as not a very good crowd from previous concerts. I wouldn't say they were bad last night, but they weren't as loud as they should have been with a 98% full building. Calgary also killed Seattle when it came to the noise for the encores, Seattle just wasn't deafening like Calgary was. But I can't complain, they were both great shows, memorable both.

Reading the Ten Club forums over the years, it seems like Calgary is well known on there as being one of the loudest Pearl Jam crowds over the years, and Seattle has been known as a bad crowd.

Eddie even talked about how bad the crowds always are in Seattle when he was in Vancouver.
