Default Movember fallout

I took part in Movember this year for the first time ever. Ya I know you are just supposed to do the mustache but I'm kinda lazy and just let the whole thing grow wild. I thought, it's only 30 days, no biggie.

Well wouldn't ya know it, my g/f LOVES it and looks like I'll be keeping it for a while longer.

How the hell do you maintain these things? Is there an clipper I should be buying? Tried searching old threads but nothing much came up.

What do you bearded fellows suggest?

Why are you asking us internet geeks.

Ask her, she is the one that likes it. I would suggest you maintain it in the manner that is most pleasing to her and her mustache rides.

Well yes, clearly, but HOW to maintain it is what I'm after. I've never had to do this with facial hair. I don't want it getting longer and longer so I'm assuming you can by a trimmer with some kind of guard? What's the brand to buy? What to avoid?

PS - LOVE your Avatar! Been watching it for a couple minutes now.

Shave your face and leave the neck portion. Affectionately referred to as a neard. Ladies love this.

Actually I was thinking about adopting the "Klingon" You just shave off just the mustache. Mind you, the "Sparrow" is pretty sweet too.

Hahahah! That's awesome. Was about to mock your weak mustache but saw it was in fact a video, got pretty good at the end there!

I was glad to shave off mine on Sunday, when you hit the age of about 45 and you wake up in the morning and the damn thing is white you know that your old before your time.

Since you're just keeping it short, you don't need to go all out. Your priority is probably going to be getting an even look across the whole moustache, and then good crisp lines around the edges. Unless your girlfriend is willing to do the trimming for you, I'd recommend something light and easy to use, as some of the fancier models are a little too heavy and unwieldy to do good edge trimming.
The gillette 3-1 beard trimmer is surprisingly good value for the money, and is probably a good starting trimmer. It gets high marks in the light-and controllable category. It doesn't have as many height settings as others, but for your purposes that's a feature you don't need. Other high end features like built-in vacuums are generally useless and just add more plastic components that can break.
If you ever feel that your moustache edges are getting wonky, it's worth growing your hair out for a bit and then going to a barber and have him give you a nice clean line that you can trim to.

Bam! That's the one! Thanks. I remember seeing a commercial for what looked like a decent, inexpensive trimmer but couldn't remember the name. I'll try that out.

I have a Braun trimmer that I use for facial hair when I decide to grow it. Usually a goatee. After you trim it the first time, it generally gets pretty soft, and irritates your face less, as well as anyone else face (or nether regions). The heads have various attachments for length obviously. You gotta use the plastic heads though, the trimmer by itself will trim far too short, and might get caught in thicker hair like a mustache.

You can get tiny scissors to touch up if you want. I find a trimmer works pretty good for 95% of things.
