So, it looks like neither Monahan nor Sieloff will be available for the World Juniors (although, I don't think they were going to release Monahan anyway). That sucks for Sieloff since he was likely going to be the captain of Team USA.
Expected Flames at the WJHC: Jon Gillies, USA; Emile Poirier, Canada.
Possible Flames at the WJHC: Mark Jankowski, Canada; Rushan Rafikov, Russia.

God, I love posts like this. The kid is what - a month older than Monahan? Still one of the youngest guys in college and he has just made the switch to center at that level. We all knew he was a long-term project and that he probably needs to spend all four years at Providence before turning pro. Now, after a fantastic start to the season including a couple highlight goals, he runs into a bit of a cold streak and all of the sudden he's terrible? You've got to be kidding me. How about we actually have patience for once and let our young guys develop instead of writing them off after they turn 19?
Sure, he probably won't make Team Canada, but that doesn't make him terrible all of a sudden.

He's been pretty weak in the NCAA so far. He benefitted from some great puck luck to start the season but really, hes been mediocre to terrible with some pretty premium ice time this season.

still he's second on his team in terms of goals (7), only Mauermann has more and that guy is 4 years older. Most of his goals were posted here and those were far from just puck luck goals. He has already reached his goal output of last season with 20 games less ... the assists will come.
With Janko, it's a process and there'll still be some growing pains.

He hasn't been getting premium ice time this season. He's centering Providence's third line.

There's "puck luck" (as in a funny bounce on a clearing attempt or deflecting off someones butt) and then there's "puck luck" (as in having an astronomically high unsustainable shooting percentage)... all his goals were nice goals (not the first type) but he definetly had the second kind of puck luck earlier in the season.
He needs to take more shots... a lot more shots. He averages just 1.64 SOG per game (for comparison Gaudreau averages 4 per game). For the level that's terrible. Especially considering that he plays on the PP.

So when a guy dekes out the D, and dekes out the goalie for a beautiful goal, CP considers it puck luck because his shooting percentage is high and he won't be able to do that every game.
Got it.
Edit: by the way, Jankowski has been very good for Providence - he is playing a solid two-way game and is adding some offense.
He is a very smart player, but it will be tough to get on the WJC team simply because he'll get less exposure there.

Holy Thanksgiving hangover, Batman!
Boston College is hosting the 3-9-0 Holy Cross this afternoon, and currently trail 5-1 early in the third. No points for Johnny or Billy.

BC charged back in the third, but it was too late to make up the difference. 5-4 final. 1 assist for Gaudreau, nothing for Arnold. Johnny led all players with 9 shots on goal.

"great puck luck"? have you seen any of the goals he put up? His points aren't from secondary assists or dump in goals that just happened to bounce in.
You're talking out your backside commenting like that,

In the last 5 games the Jankowski has averaged less than a shot a game. He plays on the first PP. He's not transitioning into the NCAA, this is his second season. He is mostly invisible. The last game he played he was outchanced 3 to 21. 3. to. 21.
He's been terrible for a several weeks now. He's looking like a pretty weak pick where he was taken.
