But he is still better than Kerr.....!

Maybe that'll be Sportsnet's answer to the sound/video sync issues, just bring in someone who's behind the play.

Great News that a Government Funded company isn't competing with private networks to make it more costly.
The bad news is that sportnet paid so much that there will be an inevitable bump in our cable bills. Other bad news is that Rogers is a Cable company so for those of us who want to cut the cord will be out of luck.
Rogers will use their monopoly to ensure that if you want hockey you will need cable / satilite to get it. And carriage fees will be definately increase because they can. It will be interesting to see just how high the ala-cart prices for sportsnet goes.
Also will be interesting if they allow Bell/Telus to get access to the cell phone TV viewing. Hopefully they are not permitted to behave monopolistically with their rights and prevent other telcos from offering similar channels. Imagine if rogers just refused to give Bell Satilites access to sports net.

New drinking game: Drink everytime Nick Kypreos mentions "two lockouts" during this interview with Bill Daly.

Even newer drinking game: Drink yourself to death if you consciously decide to watch Nick Kypreos.

In spite of his shortcomings he delivers GREAT broadcasts. Especially now that CBC has him basically focusing on the Habs exclusively.
PBP is about emotion, and I would take the occasional misspeak over boring pseudo color work followed by a random scream every day of the week. And twice on Sunday nights.

But with SN, you get both the occasional misspeak and boring pseudo color work!
Cole was great in his day. He's still an improvement over SN now, despite his shortcomings. Who knows, maybe it will pan out.

Don't watch Game 1 with Bob Cole, wait til around Game 3 or 4 when he knows all the players' names. Then he is great!

I suppose the good news with that would be that existing customers wouldn't have any changes to their rates. And I can't see a situation where I give Rogers any money beyond my telus subscription.
Hey does this TV deal open the door for the jays to spend more money? How big would that be for the company if all of a sudden Toronto was a relevant power in baseball again?

Expect a lot of back-to-backs for Canadian teams. I believe the Flames will play almost exclusively on Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday.

That will be 10 seconds after it was really blocked before it go to the net and the puck has already been cleared down the ice.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned, I just did a thread search and didn't see much.
Do we know if regional blackouts will still be in place, like Sportsnet currently does for hockey games on their regional channels? I would be hesitant to keep paying for television service if I can only watch Saturday night hockey and Flames/Oilers games. I'd rather buy Gamecentre and an American VPN service.
Also, cue the countdown clock for the inevitable cop out by the CRTC when people complain that Rogers charges $5/month to watch unlimited hockey on their mobile network, but $50/month to do anything else using the same amount of data.

I believe they said there will be no blackouts on Wednesday, Saturday or Sunday. Not sure about the other days.

Yes, regional blackouts for regional broadcasts would still apply. A Tuesday night Flames game on SN-W could not be viewed outside the SN-W region, for example.
The national games for Canadian teams on Wed, Sat, and Sun will not be blacked out and can be watched by anyone coast to coast.

I've been thinking more and more lately about getting NHL Gamecenter. Is it worth it? Tell me why I should/should not get it.

I cut my cable. So if I can watch all Flames games online (but don't have to pay for Gamecenter), I'd be a happy camper.

Rogers just paid 5.2 billion. They're going to find a way to extract their pound of flesh from you.

Great if you live out of market for your favorite team, or you want to watch NHL hockey every night. Not worth it otherwise IMO. As things stand currently.
