They are watching much more losses compared to the west (with the exception of the few bottom feeders in the west)

I am surprised that a hockey fan would actually think this is a good idea again.
I think your idea is a bigger joke than the league fella.

Sorry for wanting to see competitive hockey.
Good post, keep it up fella.
Looking at your post history, I think you should stick to posting in the off-topic forum. I haven't seen a single post with any hockey insight or proof that your an actual hockey fan.

Eastern conference is far less punishing physically. Players are allowed to skate around more freely and make more dangles and rack up the score. Generally a lot more end to end play, as I think that that is the style of play used by the majority of the teams over there. Boston would be the lone exception I could think of. When Stajan was as soft as butter a few years back, he was a 20 goal guy over there. That should say enough about the Eastern conference.
Makes one wonder just how productive Crosby would be if he were drafted into the west. And considering the extent of injuries he's suffered just playing against eastern teams..

The real reason:
The West has a better record because they get to play against Edmonton way more often.

Well I don't think I need to qualify myself to you.
But what kind of hockey fan thinks that not being able to see half of the players in the league is an idea with any merit?
Sorry dude I just couldn't stop myself from commenting, just a bad, bad idea.
I can't imagine there would be another "fan" that would agree with you.

Learn to read please. I said less inter-conference play not no inter-conference play. More than half of NHL fans cheer for eastern teams. I'm thinking they don't like seeing their amazing teams getting embarrassed over and over by harder working teams from the west.
It's becoming like the WHL vs. QMJHL. Two different leagues who although are the same age and similar skill level, play two entirely different games.
Sorry your head is too thick to get around this concept. Maybe if you spent more time in the hockey forum you would realize this. By the way, nice job speaking for ALL hockey fans not being one yourself. I'll bet 10 dollars that your a fringe NHL fan who is in love with Crosby and can't stand the thought of seeing less of him.

The first place Boston Bruins in the East would be 9th place in the Western conference.

Any Western team team not named Edmonton or Calgary would qualify for the playoffs in the East.

How can this not upset hockey fans that cheer for teams who should statistically make the playoffs in the west? Their team will have ended the season early and have to watch scrub eastern teams battle it out. Teams that don't deserve a post-season birth.

More than none but less than once per season?

It's going to be really tough for teams like Vancouver and Dallas. Good teams who by all means should be battling it out for those bottom playoff spots, but due to the insane depth in the West they don't really have a chance of qualifying, even though they'll likely have winning records in the 90-95 point range.
Winnipeg, who would be 8th in the East, are essentially eliminated from the playoff race already. They're down to a 4.3% chance to make the playoffs.
As of this morning 1st to 8th in the West are separated by a whooping 2 points! (34-32).

Yeah his comment made no sense. Less inter-conference play means we wouldn't see every team at home once a year. I think fans really like seeing every team. His strange concern for eastern fans losing more doesn't trump that. Bizarre.

Why must I keep defending these perfectly reasonable posts...
We play each eastern time 2 times per season (at least the majority). Cut that in half and you still play each team 1 time a season. It will alternate home/away games year to year (which is what the NHL format used to be).
This means less traveling for all teams and therefor less jet lag and better quality of hockey.
I'm done trying to explain this to people who won't do a minute of research and instead just put words in my mouth.

The fact is it shouldn't and doesn't matter to Eastern fans how much their teams lose to the West. They aren't competing against the West teams for playoff spots. As long as they beat their inter-conference rivals they still control their own fate.

Almost every fan values seeing every team in their building every year more than reducing travel slightly. You sir are definitely in the minority with your viewpoint that you'd like to see less teams live every season. Perhaps you aren't a ticket holder and thus don't understand the point of view of season ticket holders?

I go to 15-20 games a year, just not as in love with Crosby as you old farts. Once again this isn't something I proposed if you took the time to actually read my original post. I stated it's the only solution I can think of to remedy the imbalance between the conferences. I stated that it's nice to see eastern conference teams.
Keep putting words in my mouth and ignoring what I post. I'm done on this forum as well. It's gone way downhill of late and is becoming HF v2

With that being said, Flames are only 5 points out of 8th in the East right now even with their record.
14 points out in the West.

What an asinine post. You sound like Kevin Lowe. You need to be a season ticket holder to understand that?

Because you're saying that the Eastern fans would rather not watch the best teams visit their arena every year.
By your logic the big attractions of the season would be matchups against teams like Florida, because that's those are the games their team is most likely to win.
It's just not how the world works.

Yes, and there's a reason we moved away from it, because generally people didn't like it. For obvious reasons really.
Western fans want to see the Crosbys and the Ovechkins every year, and the Eastern fans want to see the best teams in the league.

Thanks for proving my point you guys just want to see Crosby every year. Hows that working out for the league? The best 16 teams will not make the playoffs with the current status of the league. That means less competitive and exciting playoffs. Enough said. Crap teams will make the playoffs, but at least we get to see Crosby and Ovechkin live 1 time a year.
Deleting my account to keep myself from responding to more of these weak arguments.
