I think its pretty clear he's a pathological liar. Amazing anyone believes a word he says

Quote:
In the first two-and-a-half minutes of his lengthy CBC interview Monday, Rob Ford told three lies. They were uncontested by Peter Mansbridge, and it went downhill from there.

The first lie: “The people elected me with the largest mandate in Canada’s history.”

The second lie: “Having the lowest tax increase of any major city in North America.”

The third lie: “I’ve showed up every day to work for the last 13 years.”

Ford was not elected with the strongest mandate in Canadian history. He was not even elected with the strongest mandate in Toronto history. By both measures of percentage and raw vote count, that title belongs to Mel Lastman since the city was amalgamated into the Toronto megacity. Lastman had approximately 100,000 more votes in 2000 than Ford did in the 2010 election, and he won 4 per cent more of the vote in 1997 than Ford did in 2010.

Nor is Toronto facing the lowest tax increase in North America. As pointed in Metro weeks ago, both Windsor, Ont., and San Antonio, Texas, have tax freezes which have been in place for some time.

Nor has Rob Ford shown up to work every day for the past 13 years. City councillor and mayoral attendance records in committee meetings and council meetings are a matter of public record. Anyone can look them up here. Since he has been mayor, Rob Ford has been declared absent from committee or council meetings 84 times out of 440 meetings. That’s an absentee record of about 19 per cent.

Mayor Rob Ford was videotaped “consuming what appears to be a narcotic” while in the company of several people last February, according to a police document.

In the terms of Victor Barbossa in Pirates of the Caribbean

"Yes we know that"

I still think at some point the video has to be released to the public.

For the last few years i have associated 1 word to Ford, buffoon. He is still a buffoon, but he has to be the most nu-polished politician i have seen for years.
Maybe that is the appeal to his supporters i just find him to be a man child some kind of a dullard.
If he is able to keep taxes in line for Toronto, crazy as it may seem he has a real chance to be re-elected, stranger things have happened.

I am amazed this person was ever voted in as mayor. He looks like a fat hobo someone dressed up in an ill fitting suit.
I get the feeling Rob Ford is actually Martin Short in a fat suit. His character of Jiminy Glick was too believable and he went truly zany and created this Rob Ford character.

Lol, earlier today Kuwait's wikipedia entry was changed to say 'On Novemeber 18th 2013 Kuwait was attacked by Toronto City Council'.

It appears to have since been changed back.

For the record, Ford's statement regarding a tax increase was limited to "any major city in North America," not just to any city in North America, which is what the rebuttal attempts to argue.

Without arguing whether Ford's statement was, in fact, correct, I personally don't believe that Windsor or San Antonio are in the same realm or league as Toronto when it comes to city finance matters (or much of anything else, really).

Jason Kenney, one of Canada's top conservative politicians, has asked for Rob Ford to step aside. He called him a disgrace.

http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/jaso...side-1.2432492

OT, but I wanted to say that Jason Kenney, or at least someone from his office, personally helped me with some personal issues concerning a family member's citizenship status. It was a clerical error that was stuck in a bureaucratic limbo until I emailed him when he was on holidays no less. I The issue was fixed and I received a nice letter asking me if it was solved. I don't typically support conservative politicians, so I wanted to point out that one did me a solid.

Ford Nation doesn't live in Etobicoke, according to Ipsos

Pollster John Wright pored over his data to paint a demographic picture of Ford Nation: low-income, less-educated — and spread across the city.

http://www.thestar.com/news/city_hal..._to_ipsos.html

They are predominantly people with lower-income and lower education levels. Some 44 per cent of respondents who don’t have a high school diploma support Ford, while only 17 per cent of those with university degrees do.

People who make less than $40,000 per year are twice as likely to be part of Ford Nation than those who make $100,000 or more, according to his tables.

Ford Nation is also slightly more concentrated in the young and the old. Some 22 percent of respondents aged 18-34 still support Ford, as do 24 per cent of those over 55. Only 20 per cent of voters in the 35-44 age bracket support Ford.

“I think this is reflective of a younger, undereducated cohort who wants to ensure that taxpayers’ money is spent well,” said Wright.

Wright says Ford won election by combining his Ford Nation voters with higher-income and better educated people, a group he’s now “lost completely.”

Kenny has really been trying to position himself as the next leader for the CPC. He smells blood and Harper is almost dead in the water.

There is no way the CPC will give Kenny the leadership. It will turn them back into the Reform Party and their old numbers.
