If BBM is one of those apps (even if you leave the persistent "connected" icon on within BBM settings), messages will NOT be delivered to the device until you reopen BBM. Essentially I don't know the details of how the apps run in the background, but in the Windows world, BBM is not running as a service so it is actually closed when I close past running apps and is nowhere in memory (even with the connected icon still there), so no messages get delivered.
My wife and I are back using Kik now because this simply is not good enough for a messaging app. If I have to ensure it is running in the background at all times to get messages, what good is it? If I reboot the phone, I have to remember to go into BBM to ensure it is running, in order to receive messages. BBM = Fail in my book. Oh Blackberry...

I had trouble with BBM running the CM nightly on my HTC One too. decided to just convert it to the Google Editon and haven't had any issues since then.

Stock android for the one, not available for the S3. Try converting BBM to a system app so you cannot kill it and it should also run on boot.

I ain't ever done that partner...structions?
nm...found /system/app mover/...thanks. I'll try it. Still think BBM should be able to do this itself properly.
And nope...after reboot, BBM kept crashing as a system app.

I would say give titanium back up a try to convert to a system app but I see you have tried something out already. If you don't use titanium with your cm nightlies I highly recommend it.
Most apps will have some sort of setting to allow for more device control, I start on boot. BBM will need an update or two it sounds like. I don't use it personally.

Meh...I am back to using Kik and it works perfectly. I still have BBM but won't rely on it. As for TB, don't really have any need for it. I've tried it before and find it an awful interface that is cluttered and just not very well done. Yes, it does things people want, but it is so poorly laid out it's amazing.

If you mean that it doesn't load sometimes, yes. It doesn't seem to shut down cleanly, and nearly always needs to be run/closed/run for it to start.
Otherwise it's good.

I purchased Tasker last night because everyone mentions such great things about it.
Steep learning curve! My first goal is to have Chrome automatically load the On Demand Audio page from Fan960 daily at 4:30pm.
I don't even know where to start lol. Looks like I'll have to do some research.

For anyone who is at an office environment/away from their phone often but at a computer and don't always want to check their phone very often I highly recommend Pushbullet. Pushbullet is an app that allows you to display a pop up notification in Chrome for all of the notifications on your phone as well as to send files, notes, photos, contacts back and forth between your PC and phone. If your contacts have pushbullet as well you can pass information to their phones from your computer and vice versa. Very neat idea and a great example of what you can do on the android platform with Chrome.

Fleksy might give Swiftkey a run for its money. Nice keyboard with an invisible mode, which surprisingly works well. Well enough to type this post.

I would if I didn't need a secure lock screen for work purposes. I wish more cool things would be done with those

Looks like TSN app has become clusterfata'd. Checked out the CBC Hockey app. Wow, such a nice clean UI. Really like it so far.

You mean Active Sync forced security policy?
I have often wondered how tweakable that is, but not enough that I have even bothered to Google it.
