Probably.
At 1 year and $8 million I would have taken him back in a heart beat. I would have paid $10million in fact.
Oh well.

Going to the best Pitcher's park in MLB certainly won't hurt his value. Just ask Jake Peavy.

Do the Jays go after someone like Omar Infante now that Detroit has Kinsler?
And I agree re: Johnson. I doubt we ever see him back in the AL - he is playing it smart...

Jays have signed D. Navarro, per mlbtraderumors.com. I like it - hopefully it means that we won't see JPA in a Blue Jays uniform.

That is the most affordable option they had available. JPA on any team that needs a power hitter is useful but not on the Jays. They need people to get on base!

yup done deal

Shows a good all-round talent level as both a hitter and catcher. Doesn't strike out much and has shown he can handle a pitching staff. Switch-hits.

Interesting;
"Meanwhile, three sources confirmed to Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca that if the Blue Jays aren't able to trade Arencibia by tonight's non-tender deadline, he will be non-tendered and hit free agency. One source described the interest in Arencibia as "minimal," writes Davidi. Arencibia does have power on his side, having averaged 21 homers per season over the past three years."

If the Jays get anything, anything at all, for JPA, I will be shocked. He had what would have been the 3rd worst all time OBP had he had a few more AB's to qualify. I believe he was something like 6 short. Even if you gave him 6 straight times on base I believe he would have moved to 6th worst....ALL-TIME!!!

Oops, a little off on the numbers, found here:
http://blogs.thescore.com/djf/2013/1...nd-obp-infamy/
"He was five plate appearances shy of posting the second-worst qualified OBP since 1900, and the worst since Hal Lanier in 1968."
"And… it’s true. Technically. If you drop the cut-off to 250 plate appearances– essentially half the number that Arencibia had this year– and he tumbles down the worst-ever-OBP list… all the way into a tie for 37th place.
That’s right, a mere twenty-three thousand eighty-eight seasons of 250 plate appearances or more have produced a better on-base than Arencibia did in 2013."

I think if there is some team that thinks they can work with the swing to cut down on KO's and keep power perhaps they give up a minor league plug with 0 chance of making it just so they can assure they get JPA, but tough to see any team would want him enough to not just wait and get him as a FA if the Jays want anything of value in return.

Surprised the Jays didn't get/go after (at least I heard no rumours) Doug Fister.
For what he went for it seems like it would have been a good fit. While he isn't a number 1 and arguably a number 2 he would have been an upgrade and come much cheaper than what FA's are going to want.

Damn, I'm not a fan of giving assets away, so it sucks to see him leave for nothing as he does hit for power and I thought it'd be a selling point, but I'm glad they brought in Navarro. He's above average for a catcher, and that's all you can ask for really.

Probably could only get a Russ Adams in return, so parting ways for nothing is no big deal. Guy needs a lot of work.

Yeah really surprised at what DD got for Fister, heck, surprised that Fister was even available. Fister would have slid in nicely as a #3 on Toronto's staff, behind Dickey and a healthy Morrow.
Just was doing some reading, and possbily DD didn't want to trade Fister within the AL - which makes some sense. You would think though with the plethora of bullpen arms the Jays, and somewhat of a surplus of closers (Santos/Janssen), the Jays could have matched up well with Detroit's needs. Oh well, onwards and upwards.
MLBtraderumors.com is reporting the A's are looking to trade Brett Anderson, but don't note the Jays as one of his suitors.

As I have said before, Toronto is in the mix for Anderson but there is a market for him so it will be interesting to see if Beane moves him because there is still a thought that Anderson provides much needed depth and insurance for Kazmir.

Yeah I don't doubt that the Jays are involved one way or another - just found it strange that the Jays weren't linked in the article was all... considering the Jays have been linked to a lot of starting pitchers. I just don't understand the need to move Anderson from an A's standpoint, as I agree, he does provide some insurance on Kazmir, and Colon all but gone now.
