Harvard Developments is hosting an open house for the new proposal Thursday from 4-7 at the market. They said there will be representatives on site, perhaps we can ask them if there are any plans or communicate that even a smaller theatre could be successful there (especially with all the new developments that are residential and hotel popping up in the area).

You have a perfectly good theater downtown that only plays Latte movies.

I do see a link to the webcast but when I click on it, it says "Windows Media Player cannot find the file". Any suggestions?

Hey Bunk, not at all mayoralty related, but whats the process for Traffic Signals group in terms of how all our angry 311 complaints get processed into changes in timings? Do they wait until they have X number of complaints, or do the assess each one individually, or just look at intersections that have lots of complaints?
And I vaguely remember they installed all these cameras at every intersection so some group could make dynamic changes to timings when issues or backups occur, why does this never get used?

This is sort of a weird one. The flood created a new "island" on the west end of Prince's Island underneath the Peace Bridge. Is this staying or do they intend to do anything with it. I'm not sure how it's going to be in the summer, but right now it elimates a pretty large section of water.

They'll rarely do a signal timing change based on a single 311 complaint. But they certainly do look at 311 data to determine where there are issues in the system that need a close look.
On the cameras - not sure exactly how they're used. I'll look into it.

The flood shifted a lot of rock creating new islands and also eliminated or altered previously existing ones. The City will leave them, as they are loathe to engineer something that's a natural part of how a River course evolves (I suppose unless it poses a public safety danger).

It will be interesting to see how these new formations and changes in the river will effect ice build ups and possible ice damns.

Thankfully we opted for a pierless single span design, or the Peace Bridge might possibly be underwater right now. Take that Rick Bell

Are the downtown/north central parts of the Green Line to be built to LRT spec with the current $520M funding? I'd expect that unless we get contributions from other levels of government, that the Centre Street portion of the project would run in dedicated surface lanes, whereas the eventual LRT will be underground.

If you're driving on EB Glenmore over the Bow and look South while you're crossing the bridge, there's a crazy chunk of land the flood took out on the East bank and the river dumps into it. I expect that to be a mess when the river really freezes up.

Who in the hell decided to inform us THE DAY OF, that we're supposed to put our blue and black bins out front? Where exactly do they think we should put them? On top of the drifts? Between the parked cars? In the middle of the road? Those seem to be the only options. Also, how in the hell are we supposed to move them from the back to the front through 6 foot snow drifts?
I'm not really sure who the idiot is that came up with this little scheme, but it's the most ridiculous idea ever. Maybe if they gave us more than zero notice, it might've happened, but as it is, my garbage has not and will not be picked up for the third week in a row. Tempted to throw it in the back of the fiance's work truck and have him dump it on the lawn at city hall.

Weren't there some communities that were told to do this last week or the week before? I don't think they had a choice though because the trucks couldn't get down the alleys?

Same scenario, found out about it while watching the morning news at 8AM when the trucks go by at 7:30... So you tell me, how in the hell am I supposed to time warp to get my garbage out before I wake up?
Also, the fiance plowed our alley so the garbage trucks should be able to get through anyways.
