This could either be really awesome and cool, or a what where they thinking.
How much confidence do you have that it'll be the former rather than the latter.

If the ducks don't wear the Wild-wing mask logo it is an instant fail.

MLB did the futuristic thing back in 1999. It was an abject failure:

As far as the chrome logos goes - the Devils one looks pretty good. Chicago is alright and the rest are meh.

I'm scared that the uniforms will be based on the old Fox NHL Robots.

Alright, which one of you clowns told the NHL about PSD Tuts?
These Chromed logos are straight out of a photoshop book from 10 years ago, it's the type of thing you learn in week two of your photoshop course at the learning annex and look back on in a years time and think "eww what the hell was wrong with my eyes? Did I really thing that looked good?"
Actually I think I found the inspiration for these:
I guess it was kinda "futuristic" 10-15 years ago when computer monitors we're just getting a whole new swath of colours to play with.

It's funny that the big tech giants Google, Apple and even MS to a degree have moved away from 3-D/Shiny iconography opting for flat/cleaner designs. While the NHL and Reebok think that this "chromed" effect is futuristic....

I actually kind of like the simplicity of the Islanders logo without anything else.
Other then that though.... be afraid of futuristic designs.

Ya, the Devils is by far the best one there, I actually don't mind the NY one but it could be better...

And that goes for many of you. It's a single outdoor event, fcol. Why not go crazy with it.

Well we're not living in the past, classic usually means timeless, simple and colourful designs. That's why most of us like the old school designs.
Futuristic never, ever means futuristic because nobody knows what design will be like in the future. Chances are, weird stripes, metalic materials and dark colours will look as garbage at any point in the future as they do now.
With that said.... who cares, it's only 1 game involving a bunch of teams I don't give a rats ass about. If anything, this will be awesome if only for the entertainment value of the monstrosities that might ensue.

You know what? I've changed my mind on these chromed logos. They are absolutely fantastic, I hope they lead to some innovative jersey designers in the stadium series, things like these:
Gretzky had his Burger King Jersey, Kariya had the darkwing duck jersey, and dammit, I wanna see Crosby in something horrible & ridiculously outdated in 5 years time.
