Well, that was a rough game to be at. But it was great watching Berra! Great game from him tonight.

Men vs boys the first two periods and the last 8 minutes of the third. Flames effort was there, but nowhere near as skilled to take on the Sharks forwards and systems.
Good for Berra to make those saves.
They got the fluke bounce they needed to tie it, but don't think I've been at a game with that low a shot total at any point in that game.
Wonder if Hartley blew a gasket again to get them going in the third?

At this stage, I think a point is worse than not getting a point

34-13 really guys, is this bizzaro land?

No. They made the most of thier opportunities given to them which gave them a chance to win a game they had no business being in. You can look at the glass half full or half empty.
For sure they hung on. They looked like a team that was playing to get the game to OT as opposed to the push back they showed for most of the third period.
What i'm looking for this season is a change in how this team plays. So far we've seen a club that doesn't give up and seems to have this belief that they can come back and possibly tie or win a game. It's an attitude that I love as a fan and i hope is here for a long time. I don't want that losing attitude we've seen from this team in years past.

Ridiculous that they got a point out of that game, as they were seriously outclassed & outworked. Backlund didn't do himself any favors, as he was trash tonight, easily the worst center. Good for Berra getting first star, well deserved.

It was nice that the Flames pushed back and stole a point. It was awesome seeing Berra keeping them in a game they had no business being in (first time this season a goalie has at least stolen a point?). Some players had some great moments for sure.
Was sickening to see them coming out this lax on home ice, however. Terrible effort in the first two. However, even great teams sometimes come out sputtering like this once in a while. I would be more concerned if this was starting to be a habit with them. Hartley's biggest and most important job is to not allow bad habits to form during this rebuild.
Outcome was better than I expected though, and once in a while the hockey gods throw a point or two your way.

Was it though? I though the Flames had another lethargic start and looked pretty listless for 2 periods. I've notice that desperate drive and work ethic we saw the first few weeks has been missing the last few games. It's hard to do it every game, but without it we don't have much hope.

Hopefully Hartley makes them pay for the crappy effort the first 2 periods in practice. Expect them to come out strong next game.

I think you have to find a happy medium. I don't know what practice was like this morning, but as much as a bag skating can help, it can also hurt the team in terms of actually having energy to play a game.

These guys are professional athletes barely a quarter of the way into the season. If they can't handle a bag skate because it would tire them out too much for a game (you wouldn't do it on a game day) then there are far greater problems.
