I thought he was playing in vegas or soemthing. I actually always liked him, he's bat crap crazy and I'm glad he's on the oilers because I don't like him as a hockey player but I have always liked him.

If they needed cap room to do this deal then they must be really overpaying Bryz. They had 4.5 million in cap spave before. With 1/6 of the season done that is like 5.25 million. This means bryz is getting more than that to be an oiler.

The problem with Bryz in Philly was his mental game and the pressure of being a goalie in Philly. You have to think that the pressure is just as much if not more inEdmonton. And now he has an awful defensive core in front of him too (worse than the Flyers by a mile)

So unless Bryz did some amazing amount of soul searching and went to therapy then this will not work for the Oilers. I love Bryz but he just has no mental game

Bryzgalov is a boss and I wish him all the best as a human being. But I hope the Oilers expose him dreadfully every night and he lets in 6 per game.

*but i'd feel sorry for him*

Gene Principe @GenePrincipe 4mEdm has verbal agreement with Bryz. However they don't have cap space to sign him til Smid passes physical with Cgy to complete that trade.

This is a baffling move. Bryz was made to look amazing with the Yotes because of the system in front of him. He went to Philly and cracked due to the pressures there and basically quit on the team.
so Edmonton's got an angry fan base and bar none the worst blue line in the league and they bring in an absolute head case who no one was interested in.

 Was Mac-T's MBA in macrame?

Two incredibly stupid moves in one day.

$3 million/year for Bryz apparently. Hilarious if true. The Oilers wanted Bryzgalov earlier in the season and he turned them down, saying he'd wait for another NHL team to make an offer.
Apparently $3 mill/year for a goalie no other team wanted is enough to get Bryz to change his mind. Hilarious.

Didn't they have more than that for cap space though? doesn't make sense that they had to clear space.

Another trade to follow. Eberle maybe? Rumours still with Philly for Coburn.

			Puzzling move.
Bryzgalov would seem to have little or no other offers and is getting a ton of money from Philly so why the need for 3 million?

Plus lost in all his crazy antics is that he was cut from Philly because he was bad on the ice. The off ice stuff does a lot to cover some of that up but this guy did not look like any sort of solution to goaltending issues at all the past two years.

I guess worrying about Dubnyk long term isn't really a concern since he sucks anyways but if Bryzgalov doesn't work out how great is Dubnyk going to feel when you turn back to him after bringing in Bryz to replace him?

Seems like a very risky move to get very little reward, maybe sqeaking into the 8th spot and a round 1 defeat.

I am glad this happened before they go through their series of games against Calgary.
