Heading to Buscerias Mexico, what do I need to know?

My family and I are heading down to Buscerias Mexico and I am just wondering if anybody has been there or at least close by and can recommend any activities?

I have never been anywhere more exotic than LA and have no idea what to expect. I think we have a few activities booked like swimming with the dolphins, scuba diving sailing etc. But are there any sites to see close by or activities for youngens? Kids are 2.5 and 5.

Are there things I should bring with me outside of the obvious? Things to do/not do down there? Places to avoid? Just general stuff for a guy that has never traveled for a vacation.

Awesome area. Tons of Canadians/Americans live and run busnisses down in that area. The area looks kinda rough, especially at night, but that's Mexico for you. Place is perfectly safe. TONS of great pubs/restraunts, I reommend Yo Yo Mo's, great sports bar owned by a Calgarian. Great food.

As far as activities go, I recommend Vallarta Adventures. Great company with great prices with an emphasis on safetly. Especially their zip lines. Only place I've seen that has two lines. One as primary and the other as backup. All of thier activities are great but in particular, the Zip line (do the outdoor adventure) and their rythum of the nights adventure is perfect for couples.

Sadly no. This was all booked by my mother in law. Two weeks with the in-laws not sure even Mexico has enough cheap booze for that. We are staying at small villa type place, cannot remember the name.

The zoo is also a ton of fun, its about an hour from Bucerias, near Puerto Vallrata. My niece and nephew around the same age loved it. If you play hockey, they play ball hockey on Thursday (Last i remember). Ask the people at Yo Yo Mo's they run it. When are you going to be there? My parents live there full time, so im sure they'll know a bunch of stuff going on.

I was thinking about surfing but I am a bigger guy (6'2" 240ish) with bad knees, not sure how well that will go over. Still in the cards though.

We head down next week, the 12th. Zoo is another great idea. Also will definitely check out the ball hockey game.

I'll echo Vallarta Adventures. We did Zip Line/Rappel combo. They were really great people, and we felt 100% safe.

You could go into Puerto Vallarta and go to the Malecon Boardwalk. Lots of little shops. Pretty neat.

Just get the biggest board you can and grab a lesson. Big dudes can play in the waves too!

The only thing I know about Bucerias:

The real estate market is tight and you will have to compromise on your check list of needs. It will be hard to find exactly what you are looking for the budget you have.

At least that is what house hunters international always tells me

+1 for Vallarta Adventures. We did a full adventure trip with them and it was the funnest time ever. Ziplines, rappelling down walls, a river cruise in an inner tube, hiking, and a donkey ride up the Sierra Madre. One of the funnest days I've ever had. Highly recommend it. Even the bus ride up to the location is pretty cool, as it drives right through a couple towns and you get to see some of the locals away from all the mainstream stuff you normally see.

I did one of the zip line tours but I cant remember who with. It was up in the mountains by PV. You had two options, ride the truck up the road that was barely wide enough to fit the truck...all the while sniffing in fumes from the trruck....or.... You can take an ATV up the mountain. A much better way. THis zip line was great. if had 13 legs and some of it was very high up. It ends up at a cantina that (of course) just happens to sell their own brand of tequilla.....bad tequilla.


There are a lot of great places to eat in Nuevo Vallarta if you take the short drive. Also if you get into PV go to Pipi's for one of their massive margs!

If you need a hockey fix while you're down there, there's a little place called Bellucci's that's run by a Canadian guy, and if there's a hockey game on, he'll show it.

Is this the sports bar? If so, I was there for the first round of '04 against the Canucks. Just my two brothers and I (decked out in Flames gear) and about 40 Canucks fans....

When Gelinas scored the winner, I thought for sure we were gonna get beat up. What a great series!

That's the one! We were there during the 2006 Olympics and watched a couple Canada games. It was a great time.

I did this same excursion my wife almost didn't make it up as she was so scared for her life. The Zip Lining was excellent and came with tequila tasting.

I'd go to Guadalajara for a day or two (2nd largest city in Mexico).

Lots of places to watch hockey there. Check out the Barchelata Beer Bar, Julio is the owner. He's a Canucks fan, but he will put a Flames game on for you.It's on the street parallel to the Royal DeCameron resort. It's a great and safe little community.
