By last two years I meant the lockout year and the last 12 games. Considering it is the same coaching staff and a lot of the same players I would say it has a lot to with each other.

There have been improvements this year in effort but not a lot of improvements in results or overall play defensively.

Ortio reminds of Kipper at times..look forward to him and gillies battling out for the starting position.

Just out of curiosity would Kipper even be allowed to play this season considering he retired? Or is their some sort of league rule forcing him to wait before joining any team in the NHL?

This is why I never engage in conversations with you. I just wish you could see why it isn't enjoyable to "participate" with you. Zero sense of humor or humility.

Better question is how long until we see Ortio? Sounds like he's had the most top notch performances down there.

Well, for one, Brodie making a stupid pass attempt with only Butler behind him, leading to a scrambly mess of a third Toronto goal.

Except you quoted my post, ignored the points I raised regarding the Flames problems as a team defensively and instead attacked me as a poster.

So you did engage in conversation with me you just choose to make it personal rather than actually deal with what was in the post and the issues brought up in regards to the thread topic.

I don't really care if it is enjoyable for you to "participate" with me but if that is the case then stop responding to my posts and don't respond with insults to me as a poster that have nothing to do with what I have included in the post.

I can't say I know anything about how the Abbotsford/Alaska goalies have been doing, but it would make sense that Ortio is doing well as he's had more experience in better leagues and bigger games. We shall see how it shakes out I guess. For now, we wait...

And even BETTER question - how long until we see Gillies, our future franchise number 1? Have any goaltenders come in and been difference makers at the age of 20? Lol.

Bud relax this is a rebuild. Yeah the D hasn't been our strongest assets but it's defiantly and NHL Caliber.

I didn't bother with the rest of your post because it's completely inaccurate. If that's truly what you think has been happening you haven't been watching very closely. Take it or leave it.

You still managed to question my post outright without backing up anything you said…but feel free to play martyr.

I think it can't be overstated how much of a difference Giordano makes being on the blue line. The way he played to start the season was definitely top pairing quality minutes.

Also the impatience some guys have. First you go "we want rebuild", when it happens theres new threads everyday of how awful someone is and this team sucks etc, imagine if the flames didnt win these close hard fought games they have won, CP = overload.

Tonight was Ortio's first appearance for the Heat this season. He did have a good start in the ECHL with Alaska however. 2 Shutouts in his two weeks there I believe. Still be quite awhile before we see Berra or Ortio I would think.

I just miss seeing this team be able to win on the back of some stellar goaltending. Neither of these goalies have actually won us a game yet. It's been on the shoulders of the offense.

While I don't disagree, Ekblad is the type of prospect on defence we haven't had since the 80s.... Anyone thinking that Ekblad would come in and stabilize the defence in year 1 is probably setting their expectations way too high.

Ramo currently is not the best Goalie on the Flames, but the Brass hopes he is. Hmm just like Butler is not the best choice for a 3rd pairing D on the Flames but Brass wants him to be.
