Weird by Eakins to take that route.
Kind of shows up your own team too, "Ha, even though we were 2-6-1 coming into the game we needed this guy to call us a junior team in order to get us motivated for the game and even then we came out completely flat in the first period".

While I hate on the Oilers as much as the next guy, the comments by Eller came off as arrogant and out of place. A part of me (small part) was actually cheering for the Oilers last night just to stick it to Eller and the Canadiens.
 Eller is a total ass-hat.

Eakins comments are useless and is just calling attention to it. With this "fruit basket and wine gift wrapped motivation" they should have come out screaming against the habs. Instead they limped out and did sweet f all in the first and then the habs turned off the switch and could not get back on track.
Edmonton was still who they/we thought they were, the Habs just let them off the hook. I'm too lazy to get the Dennis Green vid but if I weren't I would put it here.

Even with their last two wins in a row, there wasn't much to like about their game. It was more of a case of a blind squirrel in a non powered wheel chair with ADD will find a nut once in a while.
Montreal hasn't been great this year thus far either, they've got their own issues.

Looking at thier next 10 games

 Capitals
 @ Coyotes
 @ Kings
 Maple Leafs
 Red Wings
 @ Panthers
 @ Lightning
 @ Flyers
 @ Blackhawks
 Stars

The Oilers could go the next 10 games with three wins again with the only games that I could realistically call an even matchup are the Panthers, Lightning and Flyers.

Edmonton does play like a junior team, except when they play like the Penguins for 10-20 minutes and light teams up.
I am disappointed by their inconsistant suckage and see them as a valid threat for best team in Alberta.

Oh wait sorry, whenever someone says Tampa, I instinctively yell that.

Yes they are off to a good spot, but they are Tampa.

Eller gets a pass being a rookie saying that. But Eakins sounded like a jackstick in the media scrum after the Habs game.As for Eller's comments he is basically right on many nights over the past several years and still they run around quite a bit with little structure. Just don't give the opposition locker room fodder to vent on.
Out of all of this Eller comes out as a young guy that was pretty calm when he made that comment and Eakins the longtime veteran came across as a whiny kid actually kind of amateur were his comments.

He would be much more wiser to say i was proud of my guys tonight they bounced back after being down on the scoreboard early, played with more structure. The Eller comments didn't really effect us at all our guys look beyond that kind of stuff. We were disciplined tonight and grabbed the points. It's been a long road trip now we are looking to get back to see our fans.

BUT that the Oilers don't have that kind of intellect do they.

I didn't see anything wrong with Eller's comments. He was obviously asked about the Oilers and he was honest in his interview... he said what everyone is thinking... cudos to him
As with the Oilers reaction... they acted like a junior team. Eakins I think took the comments personal, cause his system, whether they are playing it or not, is not working and he can't find a way to wheel them in and get them to play.

If he needs that to motivate them, like many have said, then the Oilers are in more trouble than they think they are.

Although it could also be a coincidence that as soon as Hall goes down, Oilers go 2-0.

Yah, that was pretty pathetic trash talk from Eakins. He should have been like "I'm sorry, who's Lars Eller, and where does he coach? I'm sorry, NHL2014? Well, maybe Lars should STFU."

Or how about, who cares what he said, we came out and stumbled around in the first period and had more give aways throughout the game then a sears going out of business, but Dubnyk really came through for us like he did in Ottawa and got us a big win.

Aikins seems like a grade A d-bag and I'm not surprised he hasn't got much buy in from his players. These kids have been pretty pampered in EDM and have the salaries to match now, good luck getting them all to buy in now by being a hard a$$. The only positive thing I have heard about Aikins is he is in great shape and is a fitness freak, nothing about how he relates to his players or gets the best out of people.

This. The Habs are hot garbage who have somehow managed to lose the Oilers. Who are they to talk down to anyone?

We are talking about an Oilers team that has been the worst team in the NHL in recent memory. Yeah it's typical Habs arrogance but in their defense 29 NHL teams have the right to talk down to the Oilers and the Habs are one of them.
