Yes, it was tweeted after the goal.

He's making things happen. Long term, I wonder how his ice time will go if he stays up with the team once we get healthy. If all of Cammalleri, Jones, and Stajan are back before anyone else gets injured, ice will be hard to come by. That's about the hardest thing to consider when deciding on keeping him around or not.
Based purely on his own play, he's good to stay.

When you are in the top 30 in points in the NHL and you're getting less than 15 minutes a night, you deserve to stay in the nhl.

The main thing for me is if they are physically ready to compete against the strong athetes in the NHL, by all accounts he is!
Even if his ice time was slashed because of vets returning does it do him any good to send him where he doesn't need or want to be?
10-12 minutes a night in the NHL has got to be better for development than 20 on a crappy OHL team.

This guy reminds me of joe neiwendyk .
And joe sakic.
I am happy we drafted him. Looking like the best top 10 pick so far

He's ready, it's not even debatable.
The only "benefit" of sending him down now would be to help the team tank.
Will not help the player. At. All. And we aren't the Oilers...so um, yeah. He stays.

I like that in the minds of some, Monahan is good enough to prevent us from being a bottom three team after seven games in the NHL. We have a tsunami of youth on the horizon already, they can't all start at the same time.
Get our future Captain Serious his reps.

All the NHL.com polls are irrationally close, I think they skew the results.

I think I will be shocked if Sean Monanhan gets sent back to Jr. It would be a very bad move for the Flames organization. Is Nashville going to send Seth Jones back, I doubt it.

The Oilers kept all three of their first overall picks up in their first year. Didn't help the team and I don't think it helped certain players. Nugent-Hopkins came out like a house of fire in his first nine games as well and forced the team to keep him up. He had a good half season then got hurt because he wasn't physically ready to be there and since then has been nothing but injured and inconsistent. That's the only worry I have about keeping Monahan up (although he does seem more physically developed that Nuge at this point).
You can easily make a case either way and this is an important decision, I hope they make call whatever that may be.

Jones is playing over 25 mins a night, Monahan is playing 15 with a lot of injuries. Apples to oranges.

I think the difference is that Nugent Hopkin was physically undeveloped at the time and the Oilers put him on the top line and threw him out against 220 pound first line defencemen. Monahan is a more physically mature product and still has a line ahead of him that will shelter him a bit

Honestly, who cares about Monahan's contract?
The Flames have tons of cap to spend and can hopefully spend that on awesome young players.

Because Oiler/Canuck fans are stupid. (redundant statement)
There is no cap grief in the Flames near foreseeable future. So we are worried less about his cost and much more about development. The best place for Sean to learn the game right now is exactly where he is.

I look at it this way, he's our 2nd or 3rd best centre, so we need him.

6' 2", 185lb. He can handle the NHL physically. 82 games however is a concern.
Keep him up, send him to the WJC, and put him in the press box with Conroy from time to time to both manage the grind and learn the game.

I'll reserve final judgement until he's played 20-30 NHL games, but I'm saying the kid deserves to stay. It's not just the points, it's the hockey smarts he shows. The reason he's getting points is because he's just a smart hockey player. He's in the right place at the right time. Not just offensively, but defensively as well. After 7 games, it's apparent to me that it's not a fluke, he just may be this good.
That's not to say he's going to win the Calder or anything, but I think it would be foolish to return him to junior when it appears that he has what it takes to be an NHL player in spades.
Who cares about burning an ELC year? The kid's not going to learn anything at the junior level anymore. He's an NHL player right now.
The chemistry he has with Sven has me pretty excited too. Those two just seem to mesh seamlessly.
I haven't been this excited about a rookie since Nieuwendyk burst on the scene.
