You mean the post by the admin that came several hours after people were already outraged here by seeing their site? You'll excuse me if I don't find their "joking! haha!" excuses compelling.

When I went to the site, the only pages on it were the ratings and the About Us page. If they've added anything since then, I wouldn't know because I won't give them the page hits.

Remember how we're all ignoring 1stLand in the hockey forum?
Why can't we do that here?
Let them bleat into the wind.
Engaging with dummies makes you look like one of them.
Stop giving them a platform and they'll go away.

So you don't know what civic camp stands for and the fact that this group does have a political agenda.......yet you along with the majority of posters in this thread are "outraged" by the parody website.
Wow.
No wonder you are outraged. You think they are an innocent group whose only objective is to organize and stream debates.
Tsk tsk
Don't want to sound patronizing but it's kinda cute.

Well if you're going to raise money and run political events it should be disclosed. Particularly when one of your initiatives is to have everyone disclose their financial backers.
It really should be a non-issue. They probably raise miniscule amounts of money and there's nothing nefarious going on, but it should still be disclosed.
Like I say, the issue isn't whether the new group raises a good point, its how they did that.

Well if they are designing voting machines i think they would. I think any debate organizing group should disclose funding and agenda. This is because the way a debate is moderated, the questions, the rules etc can be designed to favour one view or another.

I really don't like the way the NHL has changed things over the years, so I registered NHL.net, I used the same colours and logo as the NHL. It's so childish they're getting upset, instead of calling me! It's a parody!
Pick up the phone Bettman, this can easily be resolved.

Civic Camp does have some limited degree of funding disclosure on their web site, here:
http://www.civiccamp.org/blog/
Basically, to fund their election intiatives, they received $1000 from the Alberta Teacher's Association and $4690.00 from the Calgary Foundation.

Aw, thanks, I don't get called cute enough.
I'm not outraged at all. It seems like an immature and silly way to make a point, which may certainly be a valid point. Stunts like this aren't likely to sway me to their side though.
My only knowledge of Civic Camp is that they organize the candidate forums, which I believe have been attended by most candidates running for office. From what I've seen, the forums are open to all and agenda-free. Do they run a secret kitten slaughterhouse that I don't know about?
Please, someone tell me where my outrage should be directed and why. With the way the Stamps and Flames are playing right now, I have a lot of unused outrage at my disposal.

I'm not going to go back and quote each comment directed at me. And to be honest I only read enough to get the gist that it was more of the usual attacks I get here. Blah, blah Jane you're an idiot; blah, blah Jane you're married to DB and so on.
Nearly everyone here is just like those in the CC.org group; hiding their identities, yet pushing agendas. Demanding accountability and transparency of everyone else, yet giving none themselves.
The posters who I do know, or those who use their real name; are like my friends in the CC.org group - they are decent people and generally don't take things personally. We can have differing views and discuss issues as adults.
I don't post here to make friends - I have enough of those out in the real world. I've said it before, I post here because I enjoy lively debates with varying views.
Let's face it on CP I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't. I was happy to let this camp portion of this election discussion die. So when I don't post about it - I'm accused of avoiding things. And yet I damn well know if I were to bring it up again there would be those telling me STFU and let it die.
As for the comment about me being in an abusive relationship; I struggled many years to get out of one so I don't really appreciate jokes about this.
Cory is many things, but seriously?? WTF? That comment is so f'ing far offbase it borders on slanderous.

This is basically the kind of thing you would expect. Like I say, I'm in no way condoning the usurping of the name/logo/website, but its not a crazy question to ask where the funds are coming from and that this be disclosed. Civic Camp ought to get their ducks in a row and keep doing what they're doing. I think its a great service to the community and they've done some excellent work.

I find it funny that this new group that stresses "transparency" has a guy who dragged his feet for months and months on submitting his 2007 election disclosure (Did he ever file the document?).
It reminds me of the line in that movie: "you keep using that word..."
Four more days until we can start a new round of criticising elected officials.
