I know this is a bit of a shocker, but do you guys have any recommendations on a nice digital watch to wear to the gym? Big numbers ideally.

Nope. Just want a nice looking minimalist digital watch to tell me the time.

Edit:

This is what I have now (but it's broken). Heart rate monitor is useless:

I wear a Uniform Wares watch. It's a small company started up in East London specializing in contemporary casual watches. You can't buy them in Canada, but you can order them to be delivered. I absolutely love the watches they make. They are a bit pricey tho as the lower range models will run you at about $400 CDN.

I have this watch, and it is an awesome ABC watch. It is ultra lightweight, and the numbers are massive. That costco price is $100 cheaper than you'll find it anywhere else too.

When it is in normal time mode, the '330' you see in the picture is the size of the time.

In stopwatch the elapsed time is in the big numbers, and the regular time is in the small.

Plus if you ever get lost hiking, it could potentially save your life.

I guess I'd be concerned about its temperature rating. Any unfortunate effects in cold weather? Is the display readable?

I recommend G-Shock Aviation. Atomic, solar, tough everything with lots of nice features. Plus, a really cool ana-digi look. You can find one under $200 easily.

I've got this one and it's a pleasure to wear.

I've been debating getting a Hublot or an AP recently. What are your guys' thoughts on these watches? I'm a bit of a watch newbie, as I haven't really worn a watch since phones started having clocks included with them. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

From what I've read in this thread, it sounds like buying in the US or online seems like the way to go as we have some inflated prices here in Canada, is that still correct?

Both are good names. AP name is slightly more respectable in the watch snob world, especially because of their movements. I never liked their looks, but that's more of a personal taste/preference. AP makes their own in-house movements. Hublot either uses ETA movements or copies a 7750 movement in-house from their proprietary alloy. Also, both names have a huge price range differential from lower end to the very high end pieces. What's your budget?

Purely from a price perspective, buying in US is better than buying online and buying online is better than buying here. Prices in Calgary on high-end watches are much higher when compared to US prices. Best deals are offered by the wholesellers (shops buying and reselling old new stock from authorized dealers). They usually provide their own warranty, which is kinda useless, so be prepared to service watch here at your own cost. Mind you, authorized dealers give you only one year warranty anyway.

I'm not particularly huge on either brand, but I'd take a nice AP Royal Oak over a Hublot any day. Not like there's a lot of great value in watches at this price point, but personally, I think Hublot is one of the most overpriced watches out there for what you actually get in the watch. ETA movements, lots of hype and celebrities...not a lot of history or originality.

But if a Hublot is what gets excited about watches, go for it. Not everyone needs to buy a Rolex Sub.

Actually AP is recognized as one of the top Manufactures in the watch industry and would be my recommendation. Most Hublot's are equipped with the 7750 as was mentioned but they do manufacture their own column wheel chronograph movements now as well. AP's ROOs and Hublot's Big Bang series watches are both the choice of plenty of actors, athletes and rappers. Among the watch snobs, AP will provide you with more cred.

Cool watch, but that's not really along the lines of the minimalist style I was going for.

A couple suggestions. Both come in different colours.

Mutewatch. Minimalist.
