Just what Rick et al. need - an army dude with the jitters.
I wonder what they do with the dead walkers that accumulate at the base of the chain link fence?

^^ I know. I was watching the episode with my wife and she always puts on her environmental hat, "when it rains the groundwater will gets contaminated, won't they all get sick?" or "don't they care about eating vegetables grown where those dead people are rotting?"
I guess well water has been brought up before, but.. Just where is the water supply for the prison actually? It did look like, from the final scene that there was something squeezing through the shower head..

I just assumed swine flu.
Pig got swine flu, kid that likes pigs got it from the pig, dies.
People forget, the Flu kills people. IN a zombie apocalypse, things like colds and flu would be a serious danger.
edit: spelling, fever

Yeah, the kid was coughing and I assume had a fever and wanted a cold shower.

Yeah, he's burning up from fever (wet foot prints).
We also already know that everyone has the virus or whatever it is that turns people, so I don't think it's a matter of polluted water.

All of those untouched cases of beer doesn't bode well. Advertisers should really re-think how they place products in tvs and movies. I would have been more compelled to buy the beer if some cut-in-half walker, with one arm, was still clutching onto a bottle trying to open it with their eye socket.

The walkers crashing down through the ceiling was an incredible scene.
Was the Harry Potter nerd kid bitten or something, or was he carrying some disease?
I expected Carl to continue to watch from afar the story telling class when he realized what was really being taught but instead he got all jaded about it.
He really doesn't like this new kids much. I wonder what will happen when the nerd zombie makes his appearence to Carl if that changes his mind that these kids need to learn how to fend off the walkers.

That's my guess as well although I doubt the kid would have perished as rapidly as he did from the flu. It could be a setup for a mutation of the virus I guess but we will have to wait and see. Just another question but why are animals immune to the virus? Would the pig come back to live as a zombie pig? Has it ever been dealt with why animals are immune?

I don't think that the show has dealt with animals and the virus. Not that I remember at least. But there's been lots of hints online that this season is not about people or walkers being the biggest problem that our survivors face. Perhaps Mother Nature?
The pig Violet died. That boar in the forest was near death. Online previews show dead animals quite a bit - perhaps as a lure to attract hoards of walkers? Placed there on purpose or died there?
Lots to look forward to.

Animals are immune to most diseases people catch.
People are immune to most diseases animals catch.
Zombie plauges can play by real world rules sometimes.

Listen to Neil Degrasse Tyson's podcast on Zombie apocalypse and later on Pandemics and outbreaks. So fun.

Do we know when the kid had his first exposure to the pig?
Even regular influenza can kill fairly quickly.

I'm not letting the fact that disease hasn't killed them yet ruin the story, and I'm glad that, after a year, they are finally addressing it. (Not that anyone has said it's ridiculous. I'm just making a statement.)
TWD is still a human story about struggle and we shall see how this new group struggles!

I think the kid got sick from eating contaminated food. How many zombies have they killed in that courtyard? And the garden seems to have been planted at the bottom of the hill. Couple dozen zombies oozed contaminated blood into the ground which worked its way downhill after a couple rainstorms and is now in the plants they are eating?
Doesn't explain just the one case we have seen so far but.....

The disease/contamination is already in everyone. I don't think the writers want to make it so complex that the dead bodies outside the fence are harming the crop. The virus could die without a host fairly quickly as well which would make it safe to plant.
