I don't see the Sabres getting him for Myers straight across.
The Oilers could so themselves a real solid if they can package Yakupov with something for Myers and Zadorov...with Nurse coming along next season, they might eventually look good on D.
I wonder if the Oilers might look toward Miller instead.

Yakupov and Dubnyk
For
Myers and Miller
That could work for both teams, I reckon.

A few thoughts:
1. BWAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
2. How great is it watching the Oilers AND Canucks struggle? Though the Canucks haven't shown it regularly on the scoreboard yet, it's clear that team is about to implode too.
3. Back to Yakupov: How did this kid actually think this would be an ok comment? If he had been interviewed immediately after the news came out I'd give him a pass on reacting emotionally. He had time to evaluate the feedback, process his next steps and form a response to the questions he knew he'd be asked. And THIS was what he thought would elicit the best response? Give that kid $6,000,000, this is too good to end.
4. Myers for Yakupov (regardless of the pieces put together to make it work) would make be cry. For one, Yakupov would no longer be an Oiler. Secondly, I think Myers in another environment would dominate. If Myers is available, I really hope Calgary is in the mix. With the cap we have available, we need a player like this. And (if someone told me 2 years ago I'd be typing this next part, I'd laugh at them) Calgary has some great depth up front that needs to be thinned. With a good handful of prospects, and immense density at 2nd and 3rd lines, Calgary can definitely afford to put a package together for Myers.
5. Despite how much I'm loving it, and a few comments above... it is starting to get a bit irritating that this team seems to be perma-terrible. Someday, I'd love for there to actually be a rivalry again.

so does this mean his contract extension will only be 7 years $5.5 million per?

He's just terrible in any environment. And being in Edmonton's system would be bad for him.

I can sort of see his point about not being his game to go out and hit someone every shift, but not skating???

Yakupov is such an idiot and has the wrong attitude about this all together. There is nothing wrong with being a healthy scratch when you're a young player, it happens. Sometimes you struggle and need to watch the game from the press box, it's not a big deal. His quotes just reek of a guy who doesn't get it.

@EdmontonOilers
Yakupov will not play tonight. "I really liked our group of forwards last game. We'll stick with the same group." @dallaseakins

Yet arguably the Oilers are mishandling their prospects' development. The concerns are not completely unfounded.
