Default What do you want out of this season? Pick or Playoffs?

So, this is a freakin sweet problem to have, but we can only really get one result out of this season. Would you rather we get a high draft pick or would you rather we do our best to make it into the playoffs?

In other words, even though we might not even make it, should we still be trying to get into the playoffs, abandoning any chance of playing bad for Ekblad or having no heart for Reinhart?

I don't really know what we should be going for right now but I'm just pretty excited about what's happening out on the ice.

Also, SEAN FREAKIN MONAHAN

Playoffs.

As long as we don't trade picks/prospects/young players to get there.

If our current roster gets us there, then I am all for it.

I don't see us making the playoffs, its been a good start so far though.

Success. Growth. Great drafting. They don't have to be mutually exclusive.

I just want a really hard working team that tries to win. That may not get us the highest draft pick but it builds a team identity. I'd rather model my team after Detroit that works hard and drafts smart than a joke of a team like Edmonton that tanks on purpose to get top picks while building a culture of losing.

Of course the answer is playoffs. Anyone who says draft pick can go cheer for that sad excuse of an NHL team 3 hours North.

I understand the excitement about this team right now, but threads like this are foolish. We are 4 games into season, I repeat 4 games. This is clearly a re-building team. There should be no "try to make the playoffs" in the way of shipping out picks for veterans. It's great they have had a great start and if management stays the course and continues to pick up young players and this team surprises and doesn't slow down then great! Just keep in mind the oilers went 8-2-2 or something off the start a couple years ago and we all know how that turned out

If these are the only two choices, then picks.

Only one? Why not a low lottery pick while missing the playoffs? Come on, man.

I want a pick that is low enough to get us another good prospect.

You could compare us to those Oilers or you could compare us to the 2009-2010 Avalanche who got to the Western Conference final. Arguments like that are completely meaningless honestly.

This team reminds me of last years Columbus team. We could sneak into the playoffs, we definitely have a chance, but if we go that route then we wouldn't get that high draft pick. It's a real decision that the team has to make from upper management to the locker room.

There's two ways this season is a success. If we get a great player from the draft or if we make it into the playoffs. Anything in between is a little bit of a waste of time.

Obviously we shouldn't be shipping out picks for aging vets or anything stupidly shortsighted like that.

As long as we're bringing in the right people and developing our young talent effectively--I have no qualms with a playoff birth. I think our division is going to be a tough place to play.. let's hope our boys rise to the occasion.

The only time that it makes sense to intentionally tank is when you can draft a generational talent like Mario, Crosby, etc.

Look at teams like Colorado, Edmonton, Florida, Columbus, etc. They have royally sucked for years and still suck, no thanks. Columbus is only looking decent now through trades. You don't intentionally lose for the next crop IMO. Then again, McDavid? well maybe?

Oh, this is about management's decision? Feaster already said the team expects to win. Choice made.

I disagree, there is no decision to be made. The mandate should always be to win, I'm just being cautiously optimistic that this team may slow down. Personally, I would love it to watch them finish in or near the playoffs

I like the prospects we currently have. Three first round draft picks are a big part of that.
I'm comfortable with what we have going forward. So my vote is playoffs!!!

We have assembled a team that should be in the bottom 5-8 team in the league... If they excel beyond what they are expected... Then ##### ya! That's all you want from a young team.Playoffs

good prospects are everywhere in the draft.

There is no excitement or buzz about a draft. Do people line up on the red mile when they get a 1st overall pick?

PLAYOFFS!!!!!
