He doesn't play all the rookies every night. There are a lot of young guys and vets to play and it's early. He won't play a prospect just to play him.
What does Brett Lyon bring to the table that Michael Ferland doesn't though?, and why did Ward feel the need to change the lineup after a win against the exact same team?
Ferland needs to be playing every night after the limited in game action he received last season.
Hopefully it was just a case of Michael being a little banged up from the previous game.

Unbelievable that Ferland was a healthy scratch after all the praise he got from management.
I guess Troy Ward knows best.
I don't think he was a healthy scratch. I don't recall seeing Ferland on the ice on at all after he took a big hit from Siemens and the subsequent fight on Friday night. He is either hurting or sat for precautionary measures.

Because he changes the lineup regardless of wins and losses. He doesn't believe in complacency.
No one says Ferland isn't gonna play next game, just not every game. Getting upset for missing a game or two is silly. playing 65 games in a season and 72 games in a season is negligible.

I think the problem I have with that would be the fact a Flames prospect is sitting in favor of a non Flames prospect.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't our farm team there to season our prospects enough to get them to play in the bigs?

I suggest Ward not rest on his laurels because they really haven't gotten him very far.
Doing what he's done so far hasn't gotten him much success. He doesn't get the benefit of the doubt.
Reward your players when they win. Don't scratch them.

FELLAS!! Maybe pay some attention to the post that makes the most sense on this topic, instead of arguing over something that is moot.
I have re-watched the game after the Big hit and I do believe I am correct. Ferland never returned to the ice.
So like I said...........

The @TheAHL just released the Sportsnet TV schedule for this year. There will be 3 Heat games. Mar 23 @ TOR, Mar 30 @ TOR, and Apr 13 vs OKC

As a fan, I find the AHL schedule so frustrating with their college-like weekend games, but you have to think that it is great for the coaches to have all this time between games to teach our young team. I'm very curious to follow how Wotherspoon, Ramage, and Sieloff progress. The 5-6 spots on the big team should be ripe for the picking by the end of the season.
The Abbotsford Heat will open their 2013-14 home schedule this weekend with a doubleheader against the Milwaukee Admirals (Affiliate of the Nashville Predators) at the Abbotsford Entertainment & Sports Centre. The Heat were led by Ben Hanowski (2-1-3) and Paul Byron (0-3-3), who are tied for the team lead in scoring with three points each. In goal, Reto Berra made a fantastic first impression as he started both games, faced 66 total shots, and earned his first career AHL win on Friday night.
The Heat opened their season on the road in Lake Erie last weekend in which, earning a series split with the host Monsters.
...
Former Heat Assistant Captain Joe Piskula will make his return to Abbotsford this weekend as an Admiral. The Wisconsin native suited up for 171 games with the Heat over a span of three seasons, recording (6-26-32) and 172 penalty minutes. On February 28th, 2013, Piskula was traded by the Calgary Flames to the Nashville Predators in exchange for Brian McGratton.
It's been a long wait for Heat Hockey in the Fraser Valley. If residents are wise, they'll know this is the year to buy in to the home team. They've got plenty of skill, and many rising stars on their way to the NHL. It's a young team, but the goalies are seasoned Euro stoppers, and the coach and ritual are basically in place on the farm. Hanowski is turning heads early. And Berra will find himself fully adjusted to North American ice in no time it seems. Seiloff, Wotherspoon and Ramage make up half of the backend, which also features Cundari, Billins, and McKenzie. There are so many guys to watch on a given night now, and last weekend it was crazy to see all so many guys register their first pro point.
I am rooting for Josh Jooris this year. 1+1 in 2gp so far!
