I was meant to be going out but I'm going to stay in and see if we can pull this off. Great performance so far!

Some things along the lines of still learning the system.

Hopefully this game can make up for the Sarich own goal game.

No floating, pure effort, some of the most enjoyable Flames hockey I've seen in years.
Over achieving is so much more enjoyable than under achieving eh?

I wouldn't jump to analysis this deep in the first intermission. But I can imagine it's not fun being on the team that's universally accepted as one of the worst teams in the league. So, if I were out there, I would be working hard to prove everyone wrong. That could be what we're seeing.
But also, it has only been 20 minutes.
And the Capitals are playing pretty badly. It's not like they're out there dominating the Blackhawks on their best day.

Did not see that coming! It's refreshing to see the Flames with a lead in a game where they are full marks for their effort.
Svend looks to have taken the comments by Burke to heart and played great in that first period.

Thanks, I've been busy with super fun paperwork all day, so I haven't had an opportunity to look.

The Capitals are going to start this period with lots of speed and emotion.
The Flames need to play smart and continue playing with speed.

I don't know. Let's wait for Roger Millions to settle the question.

Whatever the system is I like it.
Let's face it: there was no way Hartley was going to get Iggy's Gang of geezers to play an uptempo high pressure style.
Now he has a team with few/no huge egos. Whatever happens, that 1st period makes me think it is going to be very fun to watch the Flames this season!

Caps have to come out strong now. Losing to the Blackhawks opening night and now coming home and getting embarrassed early on by the Flames. If the Flames can hold on for the first half of this period it will be the first early test passed in my opinion.
