Default So how are we feeling about the prospect pool?

With the addition of Colborne, Hockey's Future has updated Calgary's prospect page. Figured it would be a good time to discuss organizational depth, and where they go from here.

Still missing a top flight defensive prospect and goal scoring RWer.

Would look pretty solid with Nylander, another Reinhart or Ekblad.

Another player I wouldn't mind the Flames looking at would be Ritchie. A big strong power-forward type right winger would fill an organizational need that outside of a top line center (even with Monahan) might be the biggest one currently.

It's exciting for a change, but there's a long way to go.

Don't put too much credence on those ratings, even HF acknowledges this.

It's nice to see that Centre is starting to become a position of strength for the team.

Drouin and Mackinnon are C's too. I think everyone starts at that and depending on how productive they are in the upcoming season that letter may shift as they move closer to or further from their potential.

Still think they could use another center with 1st line potential, I mean every team could, but agree with those others as being the biggest need.

A healthy Ritchie this year could raise his stock quite a bit although some are already listing him in the top 3. He's 17 and according to the Pete's (take with a grain of salt) is already 235 pounds. Likely closer to 220 but still, huge for a talented 17 year old. He's a good skater and has played RW before with his biggest issue maybe staying healthy, something that could be pretty detrimental to a power forward prospect.

Pretty thin on RW and D. I expect they will play guys like Klimchuk and maybe Jankowski at RW but the D needs to be addressed.

I hear that Ekblad kid is pretty good.

I'd say middle of the pack as well.

Much better than seeing rankings with the Flames in the bottom five in terms of prospects.

I don't think the pool is middle of the pack. Definitely top 10, if not top 5.

I'll take what we have now compared to the Darryl Sutter era where he left the cupboard dry.

8 ranking means possible high end first line talent. So being an 8C means he could be as low as an average 2nd line player or as good as an allstar center (spezza, bergeron). Dont know why u guys are whining

It's going to go by how you want to define the prospect pool. A lot of teams, including potentially Calgary with Monahan now, if you take away some 18, 19, 20 year olds because they've played some games in the NHL will change the rankings heavily. I mean not including a player like 19 year old Galchenyuk because he was able of playing in the NHL shouldn't be a "black mark" on Montreal.

I dunno...with Sieloff and Wotherspoon there and the emergence of a still young Brodie, I'm not sure the Flames are that bad off.

I agree with Jiri, Ekblad would look mighty fine in Flames' silks.
