Default Flames pushing season tickets

Just got this offer from the flames, Availability in all price categories after checking. Looks like the "sold-out" days are officially over (guess it depends how limited they really are). A good deal as you get to skip the pre-season games!:

Quote:
A limited number of 2013-14 Calgary Flames season tickets have just become available to Hot House members. These 41 game season ticket packages will be available commencing with the home opener on Sunday, October 6 against the Vancouver Canucks and will be sold on a first come, first served basis.

Tickets are available in the following price categories:
Red 1 $5081.81
White $2736.96
Orange $2171.37
Green $1561.02

all prices are per seat and include GST and SPFF
*Monthly payment plans are available online*

I was told I couldn't get tickets this year and have been on the list going on my 3rd season. Probably not as many people renewing knowing it is going to be 3-4 years until they possibly make some real noise. Not surprising at all

Edit just checked I got the email as well

Time for people on the Hot House list to put up or shut up! Isn't that why you are on the list, to get season tickets? You should be excited that they have come available. No?

If this was a car, $5100 would be a lot of money to pay for one of the worst products on the market.

Really?!? Go tell that to the people of Winnipeg 10 yrs ago, who would have loved the opportunity to watch proffesional hockey at the highest level. Are we really that jaded? We are lucky and some people just don't know it.

What are you calling the "market" in this situation?

If you join up now, so you think you'd get the same offer? I'm deeply considering it, unless someone just wants to sell me half their season tickets

Assuming the "market" is "the highest level of professional hockey in the world played by incredibly talented athletes", then yes, you are getting your money's worth.

I'm pretty disappointed to see fans doubting the value of season tickets to their favorite team, rebuilding or not.

Yup, words of advice for posters that are thinking about it... if you can afford it, DO IT!!!!

Years ago i was on the wait list for Seahawks season tickets. My opening came up when they were sucking and i said no ( i was also going to Europe for 6 months and couldnt afford it). I am kicking myself now, when i go down for games and pay up to $200 a ticket. The 2-3 years of sucking will go by faster than you think.

Not to mention you will be sitting pretty when the new arena is built.

If you buy the season tickets for this season, are you now an official season ticket holder like all the rest, or is this a one year offer? Would you get the option to continue being a season ticket holder in future years? I think last year or the year before they had an offer to allow people to buy what amounted to a 41 game pack, with no future or playoff rights. I'd clarify before making the decision.

I'm sure a lot of them signed up when there was a different consumer valuation on the product.

Frankly I'm happy that's there's going to be some financial pressure on the team to perform. I mean there is little reason to invest in making the team good (being a cap team) if you can consistently just make as much or more money by cutting costs and being a floor team. I wholly encourage people to vote with their wallets, that's how capitalism is supposed to work.

This is exactly the type of thinking that wasted half a decade...making short-term decisions that ensured we made the playoffs in hopes of keeping "fans" happy, and in return sacrificing any real long-term success.

I for one hope the Flames owners are okay with a little lower attendance for a few years in return for a (hopefully) better product in the end. And for those of us who have been pushing for a rebuild, it's time for us to support the team by buying tickets.

the people dropping probably has to do with the fact that the Flames aren't exactly customer-friendly.

They increased their prices after a third year of absolute garbage and taking an eternity to finally make the moves that the entire planet knew needed to be made 2 years prior.

They're on their what- 3rd or 4th season sans playoffs and still increasing prices??

Yeah, it's the hottest ticket in town and yeah- the Flames are going to make sure you know that. There's good business and then there's flirting with greed, but obviously just my opinion.

Honestly shocked they jacked prices after the total horse-#### that has been the last 3 years of floating and half lockout millionaire pout-fests.

oh yeah, beer prices went up too.

Although I suppose to be fair, it's still marginally less than the rape that is beer at any other NHL rink.

That fact doesn't really make it cheaper though.

Looks like the ridiculously inflated single game ticket pricing being offered on Ticketmaster backfired. Shocking to no one, except apparently Ken King and his greedy cronies.

Holy! I can't even get Knights season tickets at $600 per seat. I wish I still lived there, I'd be all over it.

Update: The flames are now allowing you to "browse" the dome (using a ticketmaster seat map) and see exactly what seats are available. Pretty neat, to check out all the different options available. I'm going to assume seat relocation next year will be handled this way.

Here is what is available:
16 lower bowl seats (red) - including up to 4 together in 102 row 5
32 second level seats (all price points)
