My next Rental Agreement with my next tenant will include a question asking if they are a follower of the Freeman of the land Movement.

Lol.

Because then you are enabling him to cheat the tax system. Any professional business should be expected to pay the system. Under your method, everyone would just do the same thing, and not pay their taxes. Have you been following that little Greece thing? It pretty much is happening because of this exact kind of business conduct.

Often, whenever large companies contract out jobs to smaller contractors they'll require that contractor be GST registered regardless of their gross income.

Basically, the big company doesnt want to screw around with what GST was paid on and what it wasnt in terms of their own records, they want it to be easy so all their contracts include GST.

That makes no sense. By not paying the guy, the government still doesn't get their GST nor do they get their taxes. If that company was so caring about the government getting ripped off they should send the money owed to the freeman directly to the government.

Can companies get in trouble for enabling others to avoid taxes?
I know our company always insists on a GST number from our contractors. We can't give them any work without it.

Uh, definitely. He has an arrest warrant out in Quebec because he threw a previous landlady down the stairs and she broke some bones as a result (the warrant is because he subsequently skipped out on his assault trial).

The whole thing is pretty messed up. It's easier to charge someone with petty theft than it is to handle what essentially amount to stealing someone's property?!

I think in the big picture we are getting feed up with all the laws put upon us and the Freeman has decided to buck the system.
Wait what happens if Alberta gets the 15% P.S.T.
(But then the old Nortel building now the new CPS station has bills to pay)

Who is "we"? Clearly the vast, vast majority of Canadians are not "feed [sic] up with all the laws put upon us" because parties like the Libertarian Party of Canada have nearly zero support. Indeed, support for the Libertarian Party has sharply declined from a high of .25% of the popular vote in 1988 to a nearly extinct 0.04% in 2011.

They have opted out of using statistics, facts and reason. Sorry your argument is invalid.

I should add this: Libertarianism, although I don't agree with it, is at least a defensible moral and philosophical position. It is also reasonable to question the ultimate morality of society exercising its power to impose law on an individual (see, for example, John Stuart Mills).

FMOTL and its inherent assumption that the individual has the ability to impose law on society, however, is truly the stupidest thing that I have ever encountered.

Unlikely, even assuming she gets a judgment against him for however many dollars... collecting is pretty much impossible anyway (one lawyer I talked to said they actually collect on maybe 5% of cases where tenants owe landlords money), and he'll probably move to another province making it doubly tough.

Given that he threw his last landlady down the stairs, I'd be inclined to not provoke him too.

Expensive lesson.
