Pepper spray and Tasers are illegal to possess in Canada. I wish they weren't though.

Ark, are you in AB?

Here are the different types of ROs, OOPs, protection orders, etc for Alberta

ETA: just re-read your OP, and saw Ontario mentioned - so here's a link to stuff there.

This is all just from what I have read online, so it's entirely possible that this is incorrect. At any rate, my gf is pretty clumsy, so even if it were legal, it might not be the best thing for her. I think I am going to pick up a whistle for her tonight after work. Thanks for the suggestion!
Yeah, I'm not sure of the legalities of it, being a guy, I've never needed to think about it.

When you talk to her, make sure that she doesn't have anything on her person that could be used as a weapon against her. Do the usual safety stuff until you know what happens with this mutt. Make sure she parks in a well lit area in a public place. Make sure that she sticks to well traveled areas.

Chances are this guy is fairly harmless, but its better to be cautious.

One thing I do when I'm by myself, and have to walk to my car or home (especially at night), is to carry my car/house keys a particular way. I pick the key that is the longest, and I slide that through between my index and middle finger, and grip the rest of my keys in my fist. It gives you a bit of oomph (not too much extra but a tiny bit) behind a punch, and the shaft of the key can be used to poke at eyes, etc.

A couple of tricks my Marine cousins showed me - one is to bring your heel down as hard as you can across the top of the assailant's foot - lots of little bones in there and it hurts like hell when you stomp it for all you're worth - especially with heels on. The other is that if you can't reach to scratch at their eyes or gouge them, is to go for the Columella (that leshy bit that separates your nostrils) - get ahold of it and pinch it as hard as possible. It hurts like the beejeebers. It's not much, but sometimes it's just enough to get someone to loosen their grip and you may be able to get free to scream and run.

I would try and get her a telescopic baton similar to these ones.

The quickest thing to get away for a girl wearing heals is absolutely go for the foot stomp, but the foots a small thing and you might not know where it is.

You drag your heel down the shin in a not so sexy manner. It hurts like a #######. The other thing is to create distance by ramming your butt out, it usually throws someone off balance and off of their power center if they're behind you.

If your in close enough to grab his nose, your in close enough to thrust the adam's apple, you don't need to hit it hard to start the swelling and its a natural target for a shorter person in close.

If you hit it hard enough it pretty well drops them right there and they're more concerned with living over the next 5 minutes then chasing them down.

Again, highly illegal in Canada. Non telescoping baton is legal.

So what's the deal with those batons? Do they weigh more than they look? I'm sure they are bad a$$ and all that but it always strikes me as amusing that you are bascially attacking someone with what looks like an old school car antenna or something.

They're light which means you can swing them at the speed of sound. But they're titanium and sting like a mother (shut yer mouth)

Does she have a smart phone? Every time she sees him she should try and get a picture so he can't deny that he was there. Evidence is everything in a he said/she said situation.

Good on your gf for having the courage to step up and come forward with pressing charges! A lot of women wouldn't unfortunately. I hope whatever happens works out for you both.

If I can't sit on a bus while admiring a beautiful woman, sporting an erection, well then I don't wanna live anymore.

Edit: Added a comma so I had the erection and not the woman.

Carrying "dog repellent" is not illegal, however.

First of, Ark2, let me congratulate your girlfriend on being brave enough to press charges against a sex offender. What he has done to your girlfriend in the last few years, nobody should go through. She should definitely go to court, and put him away. She is doing the right thing, and deserves all of our support.

I worked for Convergys about 12 years ago, and you can call the phone company and DAK (Deny All Knowledge) of the calls. The phone company would then put a block on calling all 1-900 numbers, while they absorbed the charges.
