If I'm an Oilers fan I'm pissed. Having MacIntyre around the last time worked well didn't it.
They have an embarrassment of talent and this is the best they can do to get tough. If MacT had the balls to do it, take a page from the Nordiques and trade a skill guy for a heart and soul guy that can play tough but also play a regular shift, like a Sundin for Clark deal.
Another yes man in a long line of failed GMs. Had a chance to do something big this summer and promised change but all he did was reacquire depth players that left for greener pastures and overpaid for middling free agents. Apart from dealing Horcoff he hasn't impressed a bit.
You know, if there is a repeat of this next time the Oilers play the Canucks, then maybe it works out. Wonder how many games Shanahan would think this is worth?

I'm actually happy with Grats, he can play and by all accounts is an exceptional team player. The whole team loved him here before, he brings a lot of levity.
Kassian is right about MacIntyre. The guy cant skate, if he isnt fighting then hes dead weight.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
Sounds like Edmonton's decision to take Steve MacIntyre on waivers was made very late in the process, within maybe 30 minutes of the deadline. Would guess the Buffalo/Toronto brawl affected their thinking.
I don't think the Leafs/Sabres game had anything to do with it at all. I'm guessing it had more to do with seeing Hall and Gagner get abused by the Canucks with nobody to answer the bell.

Whatever the reason, it's just a waste of a roster spot for the Oilers, hopefully he's in all the games against the Flames.
Mac is there to play his 3-4 minutes and turn people's brain to mush. He gets into maybe 30 games this season and frankly.....I don't mind if it means we get to double shift whichever winger is hot that night whether it be be Eberle, Yakupov, Hemmer etc.....
Love MacT's quote about a cutout of Dave Brown being worth $100,000. Shall we post Dave Brown vs. Jim Kyte circa 1991 playoffs?

Yeah sure, why not. Sounds about right, since living in the past is what oilers fans do best. "Remember-whens" and "just-you-waits" are your domain. Post a fight from two decades ago and count klowns cup rings for all anyone cares. You'll show us good.

The only problem with acquiring MacIntyre, is that it doesn't address the issue of team toughness at all.
Back a few years, when the Flames were good, they were a tough team. Because their minute leaders were Regehr, Phaneuf, Iginla, etc, all tough physical players who played hard, and could all really fight. Incidentally, they also had guys like Godard, but that was NOT to add team toughness, it was so the above-mentioned guys didnt have to fight every night, and didnt have to fight guys like Boogaard and Laraque.
MacIntyre may help prevent the ****-disturbers from running your guys (maybe), but he won't make the team any tougher.
As an aside, I'd take McGrattan over MacIntyre any day. They are probably equals as fighters, but Grats is clearly a better player. In juniors McGrattan scored 20 goals a couple of times... MacIntyre never topped 2 goals. Grats has a Gordie Howe hat-trick in the Big Show, something most players never accomplish. MacIntyre is a long shot to get a goal and an assist in the same SEASON in the NHL.
Also, Oilers suck. Wish there was still a WHA to send you back to.
