Terrible deal. Term is too long and cap hit is too high.

Better contract than Rask and two years less

Rask is two years younger and the better goalie though, which makes Rask's contract better IMO.

At least Bowman could have waited a half season to see if he could still perform at last years level, it's not like he would turn down $30 million in January.

There is no way he is worth as much as Howard.

Edit: There is no way he is worth MORE than Howard.

Decent goalie. Will have to have a few awesome seasons to earn this kind of cheddar though. Not sure he has it in him.

This makes Luongo's deal look somewhat good.

Oh come on, any goalie would've been awesome and won that team the cup. Ray Emery was like 17-1 with a sub 2 GAA. Only reason he isn't getting the big pay day is they decided on Crawford for the playoffs.

The Luongo deal is fine, he's the best goalie in the country.

It's the Canucks that are stupid. How they have treated Luongo is a crime. Put your hopes on Ginger when he can't play a full season and can't get past Game 2 of the first round?

At least they finally traded him. He'll be out of the league in 2 years.

The Crawford deal is a little high but goalies are hard to find these days. Hold onto a good one.
Chicago seems to find low-priced grinders to afford higher contracts so they should be fine.

I think this is a questionable decision. The Hawks should remain a strong team for a few years here meaning that veteran guys will be interested in playing there. IIRC Kane and Towed are up for new deals in two years and will command 8.5 plus per year. I think they can get by and win with a less expensive tender.

Yeah, it seems a little odd to do this so early. Prior to the shortened season Crawford was a career .910 goalie in the NHL and .908 in the AHL. Then he has a great season at 28 years of age and all of the sudden he's set to be paid like a top 5 goalie until he's 35 years old.

I remember he won the Stanley Cup. They let one Cup-winning goalie walk over money and watched him become a Vezina finalist, maybe they figured continuity was important.

2 championships in 4 years means they'll 'regret' things differently than most teams. In that it may be an inconvenience, but they'll get through it. Because they won 2 cups. So it was worth it.

This will soon be recognized as one of the worst contracts in the NHL. Possibly in NHL history. Horrible contract for a mediocre goaltender.
