Last time I checked, there still was one on the corner of Barlow and 32nd ave NE. Haven't been that way for a year or two though.

I'm not sure how accurate this is, but someone told me the Whitespot chain that was here ~20 years ago is entirely different than what we have now (there's one on about 32nd/Barlow, next to the Shaw campus.)

Think there's one still on McLeod too. Between Anderson and Southland.

Hmm. I totally don't remember the old one being at that location. But seriously my ass clenches every time I go past the new ones - such bad memories.

Edit: from a bad bout of food poisoning, I should clarify.

The new White Spot chain came from BC, nothing to do with the old restaurants.

I remember those old tables from back in the day they were very wood and had green kinda crystally things. Also the meatballs at the salad bar and sword fights in the back of the car with my brother with those little plastic swords that came with the Shirley temple.

How many other posters would need to clarify that?

I have vague recollections of those interesting tables as well. They are a vestige of quirky 1970's era decor and I highly doubt you can find anything like that today.

I love Nicks for that reason. Especially the wooden bannister like you'd find in a shag carpeted 70s/80s home over in the bar area.

Haha... if I didn't know better I would have thought you were my brother! I have the exact same memories.

If I remember correctly, there was a White Spot on 32nd Avenue near 36th Street NE, one on 17th Ave near 52nd Street SE, and maybe one somewhere in the NW? And those were steak houses, not the chain-y burger joint that exists in modern times. Separate entities.

I totally remember those tables though... they had bits of moss sort of crystalized inside them along with the aforementioned wood.

Smugglers. A cross between that era of home decor and a gay pirate's galley. I love it.

I have never liked Smugglers, why is it so dark, what the hell are they hiding?

Is Smugs gone now? They've been dividing up that space for a while, but recently driving past it looks like they are finally gone.
And you guys are right, that's also what I thought on Hack and Trouts post.
