Depends on what the criteria is.
If the goal is to create the best team of all time, and you are assuming that the players are at their prime, would you not bank on the dominating prime of Crosby or Lindros.

Or is the goal to create the team with the best careers of all time?

^ That is the question that becomes impossible to answer in this format.

Crosby is 4th all time in PPG. Obviously, he hasn't had games late in his career when he's older to drag that down, but at age 26 (only as of last week) you could argue that he is only now entering his prime. Injuries will be the big ? mark of course.

If I need someone to go out and make a play, I can only think of 3 guys I'd rather send over the boards (Gretz, Mario and Orr).

Interesting. Much different look this time around from the previous draft. I like my chances at a steal at 15.

Well, I picked him at three last time, I'll pick him 14 this time. Team dammage79 is pleased to select Mark Messier.

It wasn't put into the description of this draft but I would think if it is an all-time draft, you have to go with the all-time best players. The players who had the best career (or will have one of the best careers) go higher. It's tough to determine great players still playing right now. I guess that is what makes this so interesting.

Damnit, I'm ending up with the same 1st pick as last time, too...
 RW Jaromir Jagr

In both cases I wanted to take my favorite all-time non-Flame but I can't justify it over one of the greatest offensive players to ever play in the NHL... and later in his career he certainly learned to play in the D zone as well.

Damn, in both of these drafts I had to take Jagr over him... tough one... I should have just taken Sakic as he's my fave non-Flame!! ... I'll bet that's a common sentiment around here.
