I doubt that. Fleury is horrible. I would gladly take my chances on Ramo or Berra. One of them has to be better than Fleury.

For the right price, I say yes.

If it involves moving top picks/prospects, not so much.

His regular season numbers have been decisively meh and playoff performance a solid YIKES! for years. I think it's safe to say he will never be a difference maker in this league after 400+ games and a decade of being a regular starter.

We have just brought in two goalies with potential for next season and have a decent cheap backup with the right attitude in MacDonald. While Fleury would possibly (and I wouldn't bet any money on that) be an upgrade on MacDonald, at $5M per year I see that trade as having negative value for us, especially since the optics would be terrible; yet again we would be bringing in a veteran without even checking what we have in our prospects first.

If the Penguins would give us something for taking Fleury off their hands, then yeah maybe it would be worth considering. But I'm talking something like a 2nd-3rd round pick. Because that contract sucks.

Assuming that he's still in Pittsburgh to start the year, I think the Penguins will give MAF every opportunity to prove himself at the beginning of the season. But Vokoun is obviously waiting in the wings as a suitable option B.

And next year, Fleury could be feeling some pressure from Eric Hartzell if his performance last year at Quinnipiac translates well to his performance this year in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Its a big risk, because he is very inconsitent and struggles in the playoffs. but if it was something like a top pick for the remainder of his contract then i would say go for it.

The flames are loaded with potential in goal. Ramo, berra, gillies, broissoit... I'd say let these guys develop/compete for the start this year. I think gillies is the real deal and will be the guy for the flames one day but it might not be till 2015. In the mean time, ramo will have every opportunity to be the starter this year.

When Fleury dove back for that puck in the juniors with a flash of yellow pads and pure debacle all over the situation, you could look for a one off with bad luck. This year, the problems with pucks off the back boards erase the notion of bad luck. You create a lot of your own luck, and bad luck is created through lack of attention to detail sometimes. No thanks to Fleury.
