Re-rates
Ok folks we have posted goalies and D for you to get a look at:
http://cphl.calgarypuck.com/pages/si...n-finalcsv.csv
http://cphl.calgarypuck.com/pages/si...L1-Goalies.csv
A couple of things
- This ratings package provided a larger spread when it comes to the player ratings, and overall which is overall also higher than our last ratings. This means a couple things - first it is entirely useless to look at how much your player has gone up or down. The key is to look at relative position and see if your guy is around players of similar quality. Second - we will be adjusting the UFA/RFA grids to reflect this new spread
- This is also your chance to submit any players you see on your team that are dramatically out of wack. Remember, this is NOT an opportunity for you to appeal for higher ratings. We are looking for clear mistakes and errors - both guys that are too high and too low. Email your submissions to cphltrade@yahoo.com by Wednesday 11:59 PM (will be extended for GMs away). Include the player name, the rating they have and why you think they should be higher or lower. Again do NOT do this just to try and bump your players, if we think you are doing that we will not make favorable adjustments.
- Also please in that same email highlight any players just outright missing
Forwards are next to be posted next week (hopefully)

Thanks for the hard work, re-rate team
Do you have any statistics on the new ratings? Like new average rating vs old average rating or things like that?
If not, I'll see if I have time this weekend to put some of that info together.
On first inspection it looks like the new ratings for D are 3-5 points higher than the old ratings on average. I'm sure it varies depending on how high or low the rating is, but I think that's a good rule of thumb right now.

In terms of the new grid, are we going to have a grid per position?
The only reason I say this is, when you look at the NHL... the best goalies are making around 7M a year, where in our league its 9.99.

Not sure yet. But overall if a high end goalie reaches UFA status they continue to align with making the top dollar figure (9.99)
NHL comparisons when it comes to what players are making aren't really relevant.

Thanks for the hard work doing the ratings, it's a time consuming task.
I do notice the ratings for morale are all different. Will all those go back to 50 because if so, that will impact their OV won't it?

Since Morale is turned off, it has no impact on ratings or player performance

I guess I just don't fully understand MO. Currently MO is all over the place so wouldn't that impact the current OV ratings as they look right now?
I understand if it is turned off and will have no impact eventualy, wouldn't that mean that the current OV that is currently impacted by the different MO ratings mean the OV are not consistant to what they actually are right now?
For example Lundqvist currently has a 99MO and the highest OV. Quick has a 50MO and an 86OV rating. Take away the current MO they might be the same OV eventually?
To try and simplfy my question, does the MO currently impact OV numbers as seen in the spreadsheet?

^ No impact.
I came up with a video to help understand and eliminate confusion.

Mo Price? He'll back in the lineup tomorrow. Should QB converted WR Sinopli stay in the lineup?

It would seem that, especially for goalies, the 2-3 year evaluation model has changed a bit and the past season is having a significant affect on rating (eg kipper vs Rask). In past years my feeling is the swing on these two players, for example, would be less extream. I'm not talking about ratings but the relative placement. It would appear the evaluation method has changed to more heavily emphasize the most recent season, which is a significant change If true.
Just trying to understand the process.

We are still trying to consider three years with the most weight on the most recent year. But if you think one if your guys got hammered those are the guys we want pointed out

The Kipper rating is a bit of a concern it seems - frankly I didn't look too closely at it as I'm 99% sure he's retired. But he's also really sucked the last few years.

As neither of these goalies are on my team I'll just leave this here, but Luongo (I know I know) seems to be a little low. I know statistically he had a bad year, but it was more because of a few outliers. He really seems a little low when you look at Fleury's rating, whom I think had a much worse year overall.
I guess there will always be a few cases like this, just putting it out there, see what people thing. As I mentioned, neither are on my team, so I don't really have anything invested in it.
