I had a lesbian friend's stupid-ass Pug attack and hump my leg tonight. Thought I should add this to the list of ongoing dog incidents in the city.

It's not rape if the dog yells, "Bark!".

What kind of breed just goes and attacks people when escaping the yard?
Chihuahua distracts the pitbull long enough to save girl. God that picture looks terrible!
Jenna, a Grade 3 Strathcona elementary student, was looking for bunnies outside her grandparents' Rosedale home last Tuesday when a neighbour's pit bull escaped its enclosure.
The dog attacked Jenna, taking her down at the knees and then clamping down on the young girl's face.
Jenna suffered serious facial injuries and hundreds of stitches. But it could have been much worse if not for the actions of a four-year-old Chihuahua named Honey, according to Jenna's mother, Leslie Desrochers, and grandmother, Anne Marie Desrochers.
The pit bull's owner-who witnessed much of the attack told the Desrochers that tiny Honey drew the dog's attention away from Jenna and onto itself during the attack.
The pit bull released Jenna and pursued and briefly caught Honey, before heading back towards the girl. Fortunately, the pit bull was then collared by its owner, whose entry into the enclosure provided the brief moment necessary for her dog to escape.

I think I may start fibbing about the breed of my dog (I'm not sure what is on his papers is correct anyways as he was the puppy of a reserve rescue. Could be pretty much anything). My dogs papers say German Shepard/Pitbull. He is the most friendly dog I know and only puts people in danger of too many licks to the face. People love playing with him but as soon as they hear the word Pitbull their attitude completely changes. They become less friendly and start to become timid and afraid of him. He doesnt look like much of a Pitbull other than his body type, but its just really starting to annoy me when I see my dog so unfairly judged.
I don't understand why owners aren't being punished for these types of attacks. Especially repeated ones. I've shown my buddy nothing but love since the day I brought him home and he gives nothing but love to everyone. I don't think its a stretch to assume that these attack dogs are generally mistreated animals. Don't really know why I took off on this tangent. Just needed a place to rant about it, this seemed like the place.
Anyways. Moving on.
I haven't read through the thread much but there seems to be a

Probably because they are more worried about their kid than the dog in the heat of the moment. Later, when they have time, the dog is already gone.

Pitbull proponents argue it's all about nurture while the other side says it's nature why these dogs attack. It's probably some of both but with all the choices of dogs out there, why someone would take the chance on choosing a fighting breed as a pet is beyond me.

If I had to pull a dog off my daughter, I'd be crushing it's throat with my boot while calling 911. The dog would not leave the scene alive.

Just saw a story on Global about a couple dogs in my neighborhood, Martindale.
Chased out of the French school's yard and down the c-train tracks. One was tazed and one bit an officer.
I'll see if I can post a link later. Not at my PC right now. Unless someone else can.

Each school should have an attack dog in the school yard to prevent this type of incident in the future.

Authorities in rural Los Angeles County were warning people to be on the lookout for four pit bulls suspected of killing a 63-year-old jogger Thursday.
Sheriff's Lt. John Corina told reporters that a woman in a car saw the dogs attacking the female jogger Thursday morning. The witness called 911 and honked her horn to try to get the dogs to stop.
"When the first deputy on scene saw one dog still attacking the woman, he tried to chase the dog away," Corina said. "The dog ran off into the desert, then turned around and attacked the deputy, the deputy fired a round at the dog and tried to kill the dog, and the dog took off into the desert."
The woman died of her wounds while she was in an ambulance on the way to a hospital near the high desert community of Littlerock, about 65 miles northeast of Los Angeles, said Evelina Villa, county animal control spokeswoman.

CPS shot pitbull after officer felt threatened, no word on colour of the dog..

Moments before a pitbull lunged from an SUV pulled over in a traffic stop to attack a police officer, it showed no signs of aggression, cops say.
But when the neutered, male dog put its front paws on the thighs of the officer, tearing the front of his clothes the officer opened fire, hitting it in the face.
The circumstances are now under investigation.
One round struck the 1 1/2-year-old dog just below the eye and was lodged in the back of its neck during the incident, which began Monday night with a traffic stop and ended with the officer unscathed and the dog going to the vet.

A pitbull? Surprise, surprise. I read the article yesterday and that detail wasn't out yet but it was the obvious guess.

Some woman on the radio today that championed the breed ban in Ontario just trashed pitbulls and their owners. How pitbull owners are poor trailer trash losers that say "sue me" when their dog attacks, yet none of them have a dime to their name so "sue them for what?" their 77 Winnebago? I can't say I disagreed with her. Virtually every single pitbull owner I have seen pretty much fits that description.
They just need to ban the frikkin breed already. Yes, yes.... All dogs are capable of attacking for all the pitbull apologists that will jump in with that nugget of a stat. But over 90% of dog attack fatalities are at the jaws of these monsters and their crosses. When my 10 pound wiener dog chases the cable guy out the from door it is hilarious in retrospect. When it is an animal with one of the strongest bites per square inch in the animal kingdom, it is terrifying.
