A lot of short term contracts. I think this is the year we know whether some of these guys will be part of the plans or not going forward. Plenty of younger guys pushing for spots. Should make for some good competition. I just hope they give Breen a real look this year.

Some day, maybe Flames can roll out a blue-line pairing of Chris Breen and Keegan Kanzig, 13-foot-2 and 465 lbs of get the puck out of here.

All I now is if I were the size of Martin St.Louis, I would be dumping the puck every time I come down the ice and see those two guys (assuming they play a physically punishing style in the NHL). I say that because I'm 6'3 and I'd still probably consider just dumping the puck on a paring like that.

I say he makes the big club this year. a 5/6 with him and O'brien is something I wouldn't mind seeing. Although, and maybe PMM or other Heat watchers can provide confirmation, I heard Breen and Brodie were a great pair together during the lockout. And didn't Brodie pump Breens tires up during his exit interview at the end of the season?

Carson is gone as an UFA, IIRC. Still 12 bodies ... I hope one of Cundari/Breen/Wotherspoon/Ramage can steal a spot from Butler.
