Like I said, I could be wrong, but I've seen it more as full sentence and then long term community surpervision

Does that sort of thing happen in Canadian prisons? Or even American prisons for that matter? I'm talking about putting people like this in "general population".

I'm ashamed to say it but I watch a lot of Lockdown. In a lot of them the Sex Offenders are in the general prison population, but they stay entirely quiet through their sentence because they know that they are subhuman to the rest of the prison population.

In Canada they get segregated.

I'd love to think this is true, but is there any evidence to support the assumption that this guy will be in serious danger?

No.

You are far safer in prison than outside. Keep in mind a lot of the people killed in jail are killed due to gang conflicts and a far greater percentage of people in prison live violent lives, in general.

You hear about a few high profile cases, like Dahmer, but prisons are far safer than the media makes them out to be. It's hard to get away with crimes when your being watched constantly and have few civil rights.

The problem with that though, is that Canadian law doesn't allow sentences to "Pile On" like they do in the States, So getting 10, 2 year sentences in Canada means serving 2 years, not 20 like in the good Ole USA

I agree consecutive sentencing does more to keep multiple offenders locked away. I don't think anyone can rightfully say Pickton or Bernardo shouldn't get multiple terms
