Bah, good trade on paper for the Oilers. I'm still holding out hope this blows up in MacT's face, but it seems like he's made some decent moves so far.

lol, yeah... Perron is a budding powerforward. The only team he'd fit better on is Vancouver so he could fine tune his diving.

He's a better version of Mason Raymond, just not as fast. MPS is the exactly type of player Edmonton should be keeping.

Unfortunately we're going to hate this move and Perron as an Oiler. He may sit at 6' but he's not soft and certainly doesn't play small. Creative offensive instincts coupled with the willingness, even eagerness to get himself in dirty areas. I remember him against San Jose where you could Thornton was absolutely sick of dealing with Perron because of how well effective defensively he was in that game.

Serious shame that Perron didn't come a little more south.

But how many "hits per game" does he average?

This thread is funny already. I would take Perron in a heartbeat over MPS and throw ins. I hate to admit it, but Mac T is already proving to be a solid GM.

Yes really.

He may go to the hard areas but more often than not is knocked down and loses the puck. He reminds me of Saprykin in that he is always on the ground from being knocked down.

He also is a floater that often loses his man defensively and seems to "forget" about defense more often than not.

I can now dislike Pääjärvi less. Good luck to him!

I agree with Moon. I would rather have PRV.

I'm not sure that is an accurate assessment, but whatever.

Whenever he's played us I've noticed just how tough of a competitor he was on the ice. He might get knocked down now and then, but it's about how quickly you get up and get back in the play. As far as defense goes, he's only had 1 minus season in 6 years and most of his years have been WELL into the plus side. Not bad considering he's biggest offensive season is 50 points.

You could talk about being often injured since that is a legitimate worry, but no, you compared him to Saprykin of all people. *sigh*

Seriously dude, just admit you're wrong for once. Please. It would make my day.

I would rather have Perron than Pajarvi (not a fan of either one) but still think that Perron is a poor fit on the Oilers as he is fairly redundant with the type of players that they already have.

Ok, maybe I'm beginning to understand. You think he's too much like Taylor Hall or something?

I compared him to Saprykin in terms of him getting knocked down not as a player and plus/minus is a horrible way to judge anything.

Not sure why you are so worked up about some difference of opinions on a middle of the road player. I would expect that with almost anybody with the skillset of Perron that some will like him better than others. I am not going to say I am wrong because you don't agree with my view of a player.

Great trade for the Oilers. They're starting to make sense - makes me so mad.

Thats a great deal for Oilers...pain me to admit it. MPS sucks.

Only issue with perron is his health.

Perron is an upgrade over MPS but that being said I think MPS really didn't accept his role on the Oilers given all the hype that surrounded Eberle, RNH, Hall and even to some extent Gagner.

Hope this blows up in the Oilers face of course.

Maybe this means that a guy like Gagne is going to be traded.
