Definitely a case of quantity over quality. It's not going to be pretty.

For my lines, (and I think I'd know because the owner of this website is my dad,) this is what I came up with: forwards:
Cammy-Backlund-Hudler(if he play well in training camp)
Glencross-Stajan-Stempniak(cause this line was good last year)
Baertschi-Galiardi-D. Jones
McGratten-Horak-Jackman
B Jones Reinhart
Defence:
Wideman-Brodie
Giordano-Cundari
O'Brien-Smith
Carson
Kari Ramo
Reto Bera

Defiantly agree! Fantasy: This year: Flames suck and draft Sam Reinhart. Next year: Flames draft Connor McDavid! Woowoowoo

Given today's roster...
Flames:
Cammalleri - Stajan - Hudler
Glencross - Backlund - Stempniak
Baertschi - Horak - D. Jones
Galiardi - Bouma - Knight
McGrattan, Jackman
EDIT - I could also see Monahan slipping in with Horak moving down a line.
Giordano - Wideman
Brodie - O'Brien
Butler - Russell
Smith
Ramo
MacDonald
Heat:
[AHL Veteran, possibly Kolanos] - Reinhart - Hanowski
Street - Granlund - Byron
Elson - Nemisz - B. Jones
Ferland - Eddy - Bancks
Howse
Breen - Cundari
Ramage - Wotherspoon
Martin - Billins
[AHL signing]
Berra
Ortio/Brossoit
Some of the AHL lines I suspect will be filled in with AHL contract players in the future.

Looking at these roaster predictions really doesn't make me excited for the season.

By mid season:
Glencross - Backlund - Cammalleri
Baertschi - Monahan - Jones
Galliardi - Knight - Stempniak
Horak - Stajan - Jackman/McGrattan (will play switcheroos)
Giordano - Brodie
Wideman - O'Brien/Breen
Butler - Russell/Cundari
Smith
I think makes the most sense. Gives the young centers some valuable time. Stajan was most effective in a grinder role and does better at gaining the zone/possession rather than scoring goals. Horak can most easily convert to wing because was utilized that way a lot of the past two seasons. Keep the vets with grit on the top line, so as not to expose any smaller/younger players that haven't filled out their frames. And if we don't sign or trade for a center, I expect Backlund to further elevate his game from last season into this one and eventually find himself on the top line. If not, then Stajan can always be a stopgap there and has experience.

I don't know how you can't be excited for this season. You can't definitively say things won't work when some of these guys haven't seen these sorts of roles or in some cases the NHL, period. That could mean disaster, but there's lots of mysteries and x-factors that could really alter how rough we expect things to go. Maybe Knight comes out and surprises by playing like a solid and productive 2nd line center who'll win us a ton of faceoffs. Maybe Monahan and Sven mesh right off the hop (or some point along the way). What will Jones and Galliardi bring? Maybe Ramo steps in like the second coming of Kipper. Who ####ing knows. But you can't say anything is for sure. That's what's exciting about it.
So many new pieces. And I look forward to seeing McGrattan smash some more faces.

Not meaning to derail the thread, but you've got the wrong year. We're picking Ekblad with our second overall pick this year and McDavid with our first overall the following year ... and winning the cup in 19/20.

We really need to get rid of jackman so bouma can play or another young player. I would think Hudler would be kept and cammy gone at the deadline

A roster thread would be more helpful than a line-up thread.

I look at my lines and believe they're spot on ( I dont see Monahan making it past 9 NHL games this year) then i get quite excited and cant wait to watch fast, hard hitting, totally entertaining losing hockey.
It's going to be fun

Not lines, but more of a depth chart for all our players currently under contract for the 2013/14 season.
Organized by right and left handed shot, and natural centers with a right handed shot are denoted.
Definitely a left handed shot heavy organization, with 18/26 forwards, and 11/13 defensemen being left handed shots.
All the qualified but yet unsigned RFA's are denoted, and once signed all will likely be on 2-way deals with the exception of Backlund and Brodie who are likely to land 1-way contracts.

I think Jackman will be the easiest to get rid of. As for moving one of Cammi, Stajan or Stempniak this summer the flames will have to think about whats best for value. Do they trade them this summer for a "mey" return or do they wait until the deadline and get better picks?
If some of the players above are not traded this summer, they probably can't be traded until Feb. We have seen for the last couple of years that teams don't tend to trade once the season starts even with injuries.
If we can't make trades that are worth it, won't be surprised to see Horak, Knight, and Cundari playing for the Heat well past X-mas. That does not even include Monahan if he comes in to camp and plays great. Basically just like seasons past, if you are on a 2way you are screwed.
