We'll see how he works in DAL but teams do not give up potential top 5 players in the NHL at that age. Obviously Seguin has some serious off ice issues or I don't think the Bruins would have entertained the idea of trading him. Be interesting to see if he can mature and focus on hockey instead of partying.
I don't know if it's so much off-ice issues as it is on-ice issues. He doesn't work with Boston's bump and grind system very well and he has shown that he's not a playoff guy like their top players. He is more of a floater who will put up regular season numbers and then disappear during the playoffs. Chiarelli sees this and would rather trade him and grab a guy who will contribute to their system.

Not sure why Dallas didn't simply let the Oilers buy him out then sign him for his true market value of probably $2 million/season. It doesn't look like they are a cap floor team that could make use of the inflated cap number. Strange move.

At the time of the deal wasn't the deadline to put guys on waivers already passed?

Maybe but it's possible this deal had been agreed on for a while which is why the Oilers didn't put him on buyout waivers. It's like the Stars really covet the player. I have seen a lot of Oilers hockey and over the past couple of years Horcoff has really looked like a player on a steep decline that is being paid top 6 money for another two years.

Leaving disappointed.
I dunno. I think 2016 7th rd pick will slot in pretty well on the Oilers 3rd line.

I thought they had until 5PM MST yesterday to be put on unconditional waivers for the purpose of a buyout. This deal happened before that.

I think that Horcoff makes little sense on Edmonton who likely would be close to cap ceiling but works for Dallas that doesn't really care about the cap hit since they aren't going to max out cap ceiling anyways.

I think Horcoff's decline is overrated by many based on the fact that a. he always was a 3rd line talent and b. he is an Oiler.

He should work out well for Dallas in the role that they need him to play and that he is fit for. They didn't give up anything of value for him and the real money isn't really that bad.

A deal that works for both teams as Edmonton doesn't have to buy him out and Dallas gets a reliable vet without losing anything of value off their team.

Well it looks like the Katz Friday evening Pajama Party featuring Jesus Juice is going to be a little smaller and a little lonier for Darryl

I'm sure he's still looking forward to 7 minutes in heaven with Mac-T though
