Ah, forgot about that. Yeah, Since they got Nill in they seem to be a changed team, making big moves.

Really Eriksson would really seem to fit what Boston needs, RW who can score 30 goals 70 points and play well in all zones, and can do it now for the next 2-3 years.
It does seem to be a good move for both teams. Let's face it even if the Flames added Seguin to their current roster for nothing...the team is not in the playoffs next year barring some serious luck. Eriksson at this point in his career on ice is more valuable than Iginla or at least equal. So unless the Flames wanted to part with numerous assets he was not a player the Flames could land.
|
Not only that, the Bruins are in win now mode.
It makes sense for them to acquire players in their prime now, while Chara is still around. Seguin is looking like he will need a couple years to become a true 1st line player. If they can get a player of Eriksson's (who is 27) calibre for him, it makes sense.
Also curious to see what the other pieces are here. Peverley looks like a camp dump, so I'd expect more going to Dallas.

Wonder if this means that the flames have changed focus and are targeting one of the flyers young stars, schenn or couterier. you could likely swing a deal with philly that doesn't involve johnny hockey

Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger 9s I'm told there are 7 pieces to the Seguin-Eriksson trade. 3 prospects moving from Stars. 4 players total.

I would hope so. Plus the Flyers are in even bigger cap trouble than the Bruins. Schenn or Couturier could maybe be had for cheaper, especially now that they're close to re-signing Giroux to a massive contract extension.

Maybe TSN will get this one wrong too and Chiarelli will surprise eveyone at his presser with "we have trade Tyler Seguin to the........Calgary Flames"

Alex Chiasson is probably involved. He had a great debut with the Stars last year. 6 goals in 7 games.

If the price for Seguin is a player of Eriksson's calibre and three prospects I'm glad Feaster stayed away!

Does Dallas really sell the farm...Eriksson, Oleksiak, Faksa, Chaisson...that would be selling the farm.
Of note would be that none of those guys were drafted by Nill, so no guarantee he would be a fan.

I think this is a good thing for the Flames. Keep building and add players like this in two or three years when you are more sure what your prospects look like.
