I hope it's short term considering his injury history.

Yeah they made a comment like they believe the deal has been signed and it's a matter of just announcing it tomorrow. That's not possible though because he's still technically Canucks property although I'm not naive enough to think this doesn't happen.

Well if that's true, we did gain one thing, speed. This flames team might be pretty damn fast this year

He can still agree to sign with us with the new rules.

That's the upper amount that I could see him getting so that sounds like a pretty good guess to me.

Not sure if he has doe enough to get a raise from $2.6 million? He kind of needs the flames more than they need him. He will get quality playing time , which i am not sure he could get from other teams. My guess 2 years at $2.5 million per.

On the flip side I really really don't want Bozak for anything more then third line money. Seriously, if your going to spend the kind of scratch that Bozak is asking for you may as well just try to extract some extras from Toronto by offering to trade for Grabo.
|
If Monohan is ready, using a year of his ELC means squat. It would be worse to waste another year in Ottawa.
As for the others, we have to have room for at least one of our promising forwards. Centre looks like the only spot currently open. They screwed up the Baertschi move last year by not having a spot for him. Are we going to have a youth movement or is it a complete mirage?

I really wanted the Flames to sign him last off-season but after watching him play in the desert, his lost his physical game and really doesn't offer much else.

You can always "have" a spot. That's what trades & waivers are for... making and filling spots. If a spot is absolutely needed later it can always and easily be made.
Ultimately it hurts no one to keep those guys in a developmental territory this year. I don't want us to rebuild like Edmonton where everything is rushed for the sake of appearences.

Yeah, if you want to give up an asset for nothing, you can make room. The other thing is you aren't going to want to move a guy you just signed as a UFA. As long as Feaster has a plan that can be set in motion, I'll be okay with it but last season he didn't seem to have one and looked like a kid in a candy store.

Local casinos would argue he was our best signing ever.
