I would like to see the Flames sign Benoit Poulio and Mason Raymond.

Wow, that was totally the wrong cut and paste. N/M!

@Real_ESPNLeBrun: Nathan Horton visiting an NHL team/city today. He'll end up with a non-traditional hockey market I think. Wants quieter life

Raymond (2-3 years, and as long as he can play RW) is something I would like to see.
However, looking at our roster:
Glenx-Stajan-Stempniak
Baertchi-Backlund-Hudler
Cammy-Monahan-Jones
Galiardi-Reinhart-Mcgrattin
Others: Horak, Knight, Jackman, Hanowski
Gio-Wideman
Brodie-Smith
O'Brien-Butler
Others: Cundari, Wotherspoon, Breen
Looking at this, we really... really need to make some room. We might see the flames grab one UFA defenseman for cheap just to make sure we don't have any holes there. On forward, something has to got to give, and we probably won't see any changes until camp and Hartley can evaluate his team and see if Monahan and Knight are ready to make the jump.
Seems to me like Cammy is the guy on his way out. Could see stempniak and stajan traded at the deadline.

No thanks to Raymond. Soft and a pure perimeter player after his back injury.

@Real_ESPNLeBrun: Rob Scuderi's camp has fielded calls from other teams today. But LA very much still in the mix

Is Scuderi the kind of guy good enough to pair with Wideman? Thnking still Ference but there should be others that are stable to pair with #26

to those talking about Raymond...
exactly where on the roster would he be an improvement? Also, he is pretty soft and I want guys to protect the kids (whether they are better players or not)

Scuderi hasn't had the injury issues that Ference has had

He is now UFA.

I watched probably about 10 Panthers games last year (when they were actually playing a good team) and Mueller was always noticeable and created good scoring chances.
If the Flames are still interested in him like they were last offseason, then I wouldn't mind if they gave him a shot.
6'2" 200lbs center. His stats look terrible though. Especially for being a Panther.

i hope he goes to nashville.
I'd love to see what Trotz can accomplish when having some firepower upfront. A luxury he hasn't had, yet still being able to field a playoff team almost yearly postlockout.

For me, ideally, the Flames sign no one. There are no needs this team has that can be fixed with UFA signings. I would like for them to go with who they have, and see what happens with the current crop. Normally, I wouldn't mind them signing someone and then trade them at the deadline....but that's what Cammy, Stempniak and possibly Stajan and Giordano are for.
If we do have to sign someone, the only type of player I wouldn't mind seeing is someone who can offer leadership/teaching ability, but who's presence in the lineup won't inhibit the progress of our top/mid-level prospects.

Sure there is... the need to resist the urge to pull an Oiler and rush your young guys to full-time NHL duty before they're ready (and ultimately wasting their ELC's).
I think the worst thing the Flames could do would be to pull an Edmonton and sell hope and "the future" as products to be be bought right now. I'd rather they fill out the roster with UFA's and let everyone advance slowly and properly (ala Detroit).

The Panthers are buying out the last year of Filip Kuba's contract. Will cost them $2.8-million. Add him to the free agent pile.

I see Horton in Columbus.
About as close as he can get to home without being in a big market.

He was there today supposedly:
@Real_ESPNLeBrun: No one with the Jackets nor with his camp will confirm this, but I believe Nathan Horton's site visit today was in Columbus...
