But his interest will be suddenly piqued by the $10M/year offer.

He'll be paid handsomely no matter where he goes, on top of the huge sum of buyout money he's owed. I imagine the opportunity to win will take precedence over signing a Brad Richards special.

This is either nothing more than a courtesy meeting or Vinny's agent told him to meet with Calgary so they can try and drive up the price on other teams.
I have no doubt that the flames will offer the most money out of the teams he seems to be meeting with.

Well the owners give Feaster the ability to spend to the cap, so Feaster has to spend it somehow. I hate this way of thinking though, especially when it won't get us into the playoffs or improve our future.
Looking at cap geek, it seems like Feaster has about $14M to $16M to play with when Kipper retires.

How much could Vancouver, Philly, and Boston offer Vinny? $3 million max?

The only thing we can offer him the opportunity to play with young players and be a mentor, and maybe he's around as a key veteran cog when we take the next step.

Unless I'm reading it wrong, when Kipper officially retires, they'll have 24.5M in free cap space (they currently have 18.6M).

Enough for Lecavalier and Richards! And only 10 years too late!

Like many said I highly doubt he would sign here, but I would be fine with Lecavalier on a short term deal ($8 mill x 3 years). Anymore and you could run into cap problems down the road. Yes, $8 million is a lot but the Flames might as well do something with the cap space. It's better than signing Horton to $6 million a season.

*Friday night, Vincent Lecavalier decided to go to New York for a Saturday full of meetings with interested teams.
Although he cannot sign a contract until July 5, Lecavalier initially indicated he wanted to choose a new destination beforehand. But, there's been so much interest, he might need a little more time to whittle down the list and maybe make a visit or two.
The interviewees included Toronto, Montreal, St. Louis, Anaheim, Philadelphia (the Flyers arrived earlier than initially planned so they could talk with him) and Dallas. Detroit and Calgary get their facetime Sunday morning before Lecavalier departs.
Florida did not meet with him, but GM Dale Tallon told reporters they will make contact post-draft. The Panthers would be a real interesting one. Their budget is tight, but you could make an argument stretching it to make room for Lecavalier is a worthwhile investment.

I thought it would be higher. The Flames should offer $7 million for 3 years.

They might need to pay him 10.5 per for 2 years to get to the cap floor.
