Dude when it comes to the Canucks, it could be a team of Adolf Hitler, Pol Pot, Augusto Pinochet, Josef Stalin and Kim Jong Il and if one of them scores against the Canucks you take it.

Why, everyone else covets them. They were amazing on TSN and I'm sure Fox gave them a lot to get them there so I think this was the least they could do. I just wish it was easier to watch them from now on.

The road to Hollywood: Jay Onrait and Dan O’Toole say goodbye to TSN
Quote:
“It’s one of those places where you come, and before you know it, it’s seven hours later, you’re obliterated, you’re peeing in the alley,” Onrait said with a broad smile. “It’s kind of a divey little bar, and I love it.”
Quote:
“It was one of those things, like it almost sold too fast,” Onrait said. “It was like, ‘Whoa, I guess this is real now. We have to go.’ ”
Quote:
“Jay and I were back and forth between: ‘Yeah, we’re going, no we aren’t; yeah we are,’ ” O’Toole said.
Quote:
“In the end, it was like, ‘What’s the worst that can happen?’” Onrait said. “We didn’t want to be 75-year-old men saying, ‘Why didn’t we just go to L.A. for a couple of years in our 30s? We could have always come back. What the hell were we thinking?’ ”
Quote:
“They are fearless,” TSN veteran James Duthie said. “To really be truly funny, you have to not care at all; you have to not be afraid to fail … there’s not ego or anything involved. You have to be willing to look ridiculous.”
Quote:
“There’s other duets on TSN that they’ve sort of thrown together, and it sort of seems like it’s contrived,” Patterson said. “You don’t see those people hanging out together and going to a bar. But with Jay and Dan, you do. You can’t fake it — you either like each other, or you don’t.”
Quote:
“It’s almost like a superstition now,” O’Toole said, “because it puts us in a giddy mood.”
Quote:
“I’m amazed that there hasn’t been that one person who’s come up and wanted to just punch us in the face,” Onrait said. “It’s blown my mind. On Twitter? Sure. Where there’s no repercussions and you can hide behind social media? Sure. People are always cutting us down.
Quote:
“But in person? I’ve never had somebody come up to me and say, ‘I hate what you do man; you ruined my life.’ In person, it’s always been positive. It’s always been nice.”
Quote:
“I honestly thought we were going to be family before the night was out,” said the bar’s owner, Peter Sereggela.
Quote:
“I saw him at the airport and he was standing there with a bunch of people, getting his picture taken,” Joanne Onrait said. “I’m like, ‘Why are people taking pictures?’ It didn’t sink in. It was like, ‘Why are people wanting to take his picture?’”
Quote:
“Those two guys are probably two of the most genuine characters that you’ll ever meet,” the bar owner said. “They went above and beyond what they were obliged to do. It was a tremendous amount that they not only brought awareness to what happened to Estevan, but it opened the hearts of the people of Estevan.”
Quote:
“A good on-air broadcaster is appreciated regardless of what network they are on,” said Keith Pelley, a longtime TSN executive now serving as president of rival Rogers Media. “We love to see great broadcasters and great journalists in our business, and Jay and Dan are two great ones.”
Quote:
“My biggest concern for them would be that people find out they’re Canadian right out of the gate, and then their viewers sort of set up a wall to not laugh at them,” Patterson said. “I have gone to the States and done shows. And the first thing I notice is, if I’m introduced as being from Canada, they get their backs up right away if you make fun of anything American.”
Quote:
“I think by the fact that we did make a multi-year commitment would tell us that we’re not being cutthroat,” he said. “If we weren’t comfortable and we didn’t want to try to give them an opportunity to build it, it would have been one[-year deals] and a bunch of options.”
Quote:
“They took a big leap of faith with us, and we’re taking a big leap of faith with them,” Ackerson said. “But we want to make it that it’s a long-term project so that, if they end up in 20 years going back to Canada because they want to have one last hurrah, that the President of the United States says, ‘You’re stealing them back.’”
Quote:
“I told Jay, on the first show, when they throw to us, I want to literally say, ‘I think I’m gonna puke,’” O’Toole said with a chuckle. “I said I should actually get some fake puke and just do it. We would go down in history for the greatest TV moment of all time.”
