Default Schneider to the Oilers?

Yes please! How awesome would that be for Flames fans?

Canucks consider shopping Schneider instead says Dreger.

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=426586

TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger reported Saturday morning that his sources indicate the Canucks are considering moving their 27-year-old netminder and that the Edmonton Oilers might well be in on the action.
Dreger continued that the talks may be a contingency plan in the event the team is unable to move Roberto Luongo, who has been the subject of trade rumours for more than a year.
The asking price is believed to start with a first round draft pick and a prospect, according to Dreger, though he added that the talks may simply believed to be a way to gauge Schneider's worth on the open market.

Trading Scneider should have been the move all along. They can get some good assets for him. I would think the Flyers would be willing to talk Couturier for him...and the Islanders would likely give up something nice as well.

I don't think that would be awesome at all. Schneider is good and the trade would offer the Canucks cap relief. I would prefer they keep their two-headed goalie distraction and the Oilers are stuck with a debatable top 20 goalie.

No goalie is bringing that type of return this year. Why pay that price when there are goalies available with no acquisition cost?

Also, goaltending wasn't really the oilers' problem last season.

Schneider is average and will look below average behind the Oily defence. Never seen a backup goalie get $4million/season after so little games before.

Schneider is better then average and would help the Oilers in that department immensely.

If they could get him for free, sure.

You mean like how in the last playoffs the coach couldn't decide who to put in? It's not like he is making $1mil/year. He is making $4mil!

Schneider did very well in his first year as a starter. He would make the Oilers better immediately, though he's not a huge upgrade over Dubnyk. He is good though

Schneider had a groin injury and should have never played. Coach made the wrong decision and I was glad he was fired for making decisions like that. Before the injury occurred Schneider was one of the best goalies in the league over about a 20 game stretch. Anyone who thinks otherwise isn't too bright.

No doubt he would help the Oilers...

What would be the return? (BTW, for a good laugh, check the expected returns on CDC).

Every team knows Vancouver is screwed in this situation, so the offers should all be complete lowballs.

Everybody also knows the Oilers are desperate to make a "big" move.

I would say 7th plus something good if I am Vancouver.

Interesting to see if they do move Schneider. It was always the smart move and Luongo the better goalie anyways.

^ that's what some of my fellow cdcers were saying.

Also I hate to break it to you guys, but the Canucks aren't winning a cup with either Schneider or Luongo as the starter. So they might as well trade Schneider and restock that empty prospect cupboard.

This trade could haunt Vancouver. Not sure they make it in the division unless they are very desperate. Will be very funny if it comes to this.
