Of course none of the media is going to say ill of Feaster or the Flames. It's draft weekend and they all want to get the scoop for themselves or at least their employers.

AWESOME CALGARY FLAMES TRADE BROUGHT TO YOU BY JAY THE COWBOY FEASTER.
Honest question: Have you seen David Jones play?

Jones brings more to the table than Tanguay, and had consecutive 20 goal seasons prior to last year. Don't judge a player for a lockout shortened season, in which his team clearly tanked.

Oh for f sakes....I'm getting sick of people whining and b*tching all the time about this supposed incompetence in our GM...

He's trying to make moves to move out the "country-club" cry-baby vets and get bigger/younger, fill some holes in our roster.

CP:
"I want this player traded, move him out!"

We trade said player

"Ah man, I hate the bum we got back for him!"

WTF did you expect to get for Tanguay, really? He's an aging perimeter player/shootout specialist.

It's a rebuilding trade. Get younger and Feaster finally realizes that a team of smaller players isn't that great. Hopefully he realizes a balance is needed and doesn't go out and get huge players. Pretty meh trade, but it's not the end of the world.

Did people really expect a 1st or 2nd round pick for a 33 year old player with that contract? Need to simmer down expectations a bit. I'm actually surprised Avs wanted him in the first place.

Jones is only getting paid 500k more which doesn't matter since we won't be anywhere near a cap team plus he's younger. SOB is a SOB and a younger Sarich who can log in 40-50 games throughout the season and adds toughness to a butter soft team.

Next season is a wash anyhow, I really don't expect the Flames to finish higher than 25 or so to me it's no big deal that a disinterested player and an aging player are out the door.

The hope here is that Jones can maybe find some chemistry with someone and regain his old form. With regard to SOB, Flames need some bitterness (might be stupidity at times) in front of the net...SOB brings that.
you know what's better than "younger, bigger and tougher"? Younger, tougher, more skilled and cheaper. Jones is only 2 out of the 4...

Calgary was already, how should we say it? Skill impaired...so getting rid of one of the few skill players for someone who is more of a grinder may be considered by some posters, as a net negative trade...

Feaster did fine, here, as long as Jones plays hard. Time will tell.
More of a chance Jones plays with some heart than there is that Tanguay will.

People also have to evaluate the character of the player heading to Colorado. Alex Tanguay is not the type of player I would have around the new young players on this team. If not for this trade, I would've seriously considered buying him out just to get rid of his presence on the team. Attitude matters.

Cap space? We have to stay above the cap floor to begin with.
We're at the floor now. Doesn't Jones have 3 more years left?

Tanguay brings more to the table even at his age than both the players we received. This team has one first line caliber player left. One.

Jones is going to be a fan favorite, SOB is more useful to us than Sarich

I don't know how anyone can complain, Tanguay and Sarich both are useless to us at their age and Tanguay clearly wants to be on a competing team

Both Tanguay and Sarich had control of where they were going to go with NTCs. That limited Feasters options. People are acting like he just took the first offer he has ever had for Tanguay, who all of a sudden is our best player

There's a reason Jones got a $20M contract last year, he earned it. One bad year on the most underperforming team I've ever seen doesn't all of a sudden make him a bad player. He's going to end up being the best player out of this deal IMO, and he'll be much more useful to use than Tanguay would be during a rebuild

Seems like I'm one of those who likes the trade. I don't care if Tanguay is the fanciest player in the league, he is heartless and moped around once his country club buddies were traded. The guy was becoming a cancer and I would have been happy trading him for a 7th. In return we get a 6'2 210lbs RW (which we desperately need) who scored 20 and 27 goals 2 seasons ago. Sure he had a bad season least year, but could someone please google for me what place the Avs came in last year. Oh yeah thats' right, LAST!! Best case scenario, Jones pushes for a top 6 spot and adds some much needed size up front. Worst case, he becomes Comeau 2.0. I don't like his contract, but seeing as we aren't in cap trouble yet, it's not a big deal.

And last time I checked, Sarich was stappled up in the pressbox game after game. He sure won't be showcasing his physical play from up there. If I recall, O'brien is a nasty player who actually clears the net. He has high PIM total year after year. He stands up for his teammates, something no one else does.

I can't believe that after all the whining and complaining about having a soft/small team, Feaster gets crapped on for literally going out and doing something about it. We got younger and bigger. But people still complain

I'd rather not trade him if the return is a worse contract for the same duration.

We got a declining player with a worse contract. You can bookmark this thread. I am calling it now. By this time next year, Tanguay is going to be the better asset than Jones. In fact, I think the same will be true 2016 when both deals are up.

Meh, we're rebuilding and with this get a little younger and grittier. I'm fine with it.

Hopefully this trade softened the hate against us from the O'Reily offer and they agree to give trade us the #1 pick now!

You should be, Tanguay might bring some needed playmaking to the Avs. Or he might float around the ice and vanish.

Sarich might occupy the press box more then the ice.

As a Flames fan I'm very happy with this deal.

Sorry I don't see the attitude problem. Players shouldn't be happy with losing.
